Below is a pic of my roof rack. The mount is two bars crossing each other perpindicular. Right now they are held together with a band-clamp inside of some rubber tubing. I want something a little more perminent and a little stronger, not to mention more appealing. What is out there or can be easily made for this application?

I do not use the factory mounts since they make it sit about 4 - 6 inches higher and I don't like the looks of it that way.

the bars can be moved a little so that nothing is in the way, so you can either ignore or not that smaller third bar.

What about a couple Ubolts and a fabricated bracket to bolt it all together?

I was thinking about that but how would I fabricate the bracket? My imagination is not working on this. I need something that won't slide.

You could use 2 tailpipe u-brackets and the clamps. Put the U brackets over the top bar, one on each side of the bottom bar, and then put the clamps on the bottom so that each clamp is on one leg of each u-bracket and across the bottom bracket.

Or, why not drill a hole through both pieces and just put a bolt in to hold it together??

I was thinking something like this.
