Neons

So what would you say is the best protection DarkFox1 (or anyone else)?

I've heard of Lexan coating, silicone coating, and chicken wire?

What do we use to protect those neons???

Here's where I chose to mount the switches (under climate controls) for the first aftermarket fogs I had (now replaced, and the switches are just there for looks). It keeps them in sight (if you use the lighted switches) so you don't forget to turn them off. I used a dremel tool to cut out the holes.

Who knows how to protect the neons under the car?

Any bright ideas??

Matt

Anybody know the difference in looks between the Neo-Blue and Turqoise for the undercar kits?

I wanted a solid, clear blue color, so I ordered the Neo-Blue. But I heard that the Neo-Blues kinda look purple???

Matt

yeah, they are so purple, the neo blue is messed up name, they should call it "purple" instead

NO WAY!! What about the turquoise? I didnt get it cuz I thought it would be too much of a light blue!! I dont want purple dammit, it says NEO-BLUE!!

Matt!

go to your eye doctor.. you are probablly color blind :P I get peopl telling me my neon is purple all the time.. the underbody kit I can understand, cos the pavement makes it kinda sorta maybe almost if you squint and look at it i na mirror while you're high. look purple...

personally, if you think the blue looks purple you need to look harder heh, cos I have the neo blues inside my car and a lowglow kit under the car of the same color and its as blue as blue can be to me

darkfox, you talkin to me? they are more purplish than anything else, i dont know what your talking about, the neo blue is kinda like a black light. maybe your color blind, but neo blue isn't a true blue, its distorted

Well I asked Ryan, he assured me that Neo-Blue is a dark blue, not purple. I told him to send those bad boys on over to me then!!

Darkfox, I showed him your picture in the email, basically I said that I wanted it to look exactly like that, I love that color blue!!

I'll get some pics up as soon as i get them on there!

Matt

Matt, How Much did they cost? what site did you get them from?

Mike

Mike,

I got them from www.buyneonlights.com

I got the Gold Series for $135 plus $15 s/h.

JCWhitney was selling the same thing for $159 (not sure about s/h)

buyneonlights is the best deal around, mine shipped yesterday (May 6) and I ordered them on April 26. I'll let you know how long it takes to get here and I'll get some pics up when I get them on!!

Hope this helps bud...

Matt

I dunno man.. I aint attackin no one.. but I get it all the time "nice purple lights" THEY ARE BLUE! heh..

they look totally blue to me guys.. no matter what surface they are on, no matter where they are.. blue as can be..

nice site fitzmatt I may look into that.. I guess I'm a neon nut heh

whatever darkfox :P they are FREAKIN PURPLE, your blind :-)

I beg to differ with anyone saying that neo-blue looks like purple. First off, i have a purple Street Glow Gold Series underbody kit. Trust me kiddos, its purple up the WAZ, not blue. My friend has a neo-blue underbody kit, and its blue, not purple.

Don't believe me? Click on the link in my sig. Or if you to lazy to do that, click this link.

Thats my homepage. As you can see, i LOVE neons...and i know what the **** im talkin about.

As for any quesions concerning neons, ask away.

I would recomend people buy their neons from www.buyneonlights.com Ryan Kerns, the guy who heads it up, is very reliable, and his prices cannot be beat. However, if you item is on backorder, it takes a while for it to come.

As for the Street Glow Gold Sereies unerbody neons, they come with a lifetime warrenty, 2 52" bulbs, 2 30" bulbs, a 9500v transformer, etc. They are bright as hell, and do not break easily.

The Gold Series underbody kits are watertight, but if you are worried about water gettin in them, just put some clear silcon over the ends of the tuebs, and that will make sure that no water will get in.

Later ya'll

Hey Guys, I have done the complete install for my Bro in laws car and he's runnin around 10 lights, we used the StreetGlow blue line kit and have had no trouble with it, as far as a lexan tube to shield them fro protection.. they come in a lexan tube, and bigger lexan tubes would be quite expensive. You could i guess fab a lexan flat sheild under them to protect them , the best place i have found to mount them is screwed or adelled to the pinch under the rocker panel, it is a pretty well protected area. i also mounted my auxillary switchex under my HVAC , actually i took out the ash tray and mounted my CB and set of switches there.

as far as extra light i think backing the lights with plexi mirror in theory would double your light output... gonna try it when the 2 new 48" come in

hope some of this helps

Gold Series kit? Are they gonna be pretty safe, and protection is an extra option, or should I really look into protecting them well?

Matt

The Gold Series kit by Street Glow is REALLY TOUGH. I haven't had a problem with them yet. I have had my purple underbody neons on all winter, and for about 6 months, and i have gone in like 2 feet of snow, and a little off roadin with them, and not one has broke. Also, if your worried about stones flyin up and breakin them...it is gonna have to be one BIG ASS STONE.

Plus, if you tube DOES somehow get broken, just send it back to Street Glow and they will replace it for free. I trust street glow a ton. Thats why im putting green neons in my wheel wells this summer (not behind the wheels, but above them, so the green glows down)

Carl

i was thinking about doing something similar to putting them in the wheel wells, but i think that they will definetely get broken. lots of stuff shoots up there (mud , rocks). I'm pretty confident that the street glow products won't be able to endure all the stuff that comes in the wheel well, just my opinion

Well as long as you position the neons toward the front of the wheelwell it should be ok don't you think? Most of the rocks and stuff are gonna hit the backside of the wheelwell. That is a cool idea!

I really like the wheelwell idea and also the neons you can see through the grill.

hey bmxboy.. welcome to the forum.. I've seen your ride 10000 times on sounddomain, very nice work..

when I first saw your pics it drove me crazy.. if you'll notice the difference in brightness bet. your pics and mine.. I was actually mad for a day or 2.. I felt like I'd been ripped off cos mine looked so dim in comparison.. what sort of camera are you using to take those pics? I know lowglow isn't as bright as streetglow.. but the difference in pics is night and day.. and I don't think it can be THAT close :P

ok guys.. here we go

also note bright.. and not so bright heh, lets just hope its the camera difference :)

btw, on the note about breaking tubes.. they are hard to break yes, but if you get your spare tire changed TELL THEM YOU HAVE A TUBE THERE! if you don't.. they will find a way to break it.. I've gone through 2 tubes that way.
