New Projector mods

Am I seeing something wrong, or do they have the wrong picture?... That would never work..... I hope I'm not mistaken, but aren't both bulbs for high and low H1?

Google is your friend. Real photos of H1 bulbs:

Yeah, I did check around.. but you never know with some of these sites.

Alright, so I need some wiring ideas... it's obvious how to plug the HID's up.. and I'm gonna wire the halos and LED's into the un-used plug for the corner light...... what did you guys use to power the high beam?

That could be a good solution for the passenger headlight, as for driver's though the plug is used to trigger the HID kit.

Your HID kit perhaps. Not mine.

If you have your lights...what do the directions say to do?

Haha... there was none... lol

They're pretty self explanitory.. if you never even thought about popping in some HID's....

They come in an unmarked box. As generic as they come. They're pretty much plug and play. I think of all the guys who scored them on the group buy have them wired differently.

I guess this would have been easier if my HID kit was more like yours, or more like the single beam kit. Hm.. this is gonna be interesting..

See, this is where the confusion came from as far as using the high/low mod on the stock harness.... the way my kit is setup... that MIGHT cause an issue... unless the relay is made to be able to figure out what to do when the stalk is pulled back. I don't know..

I guess I could kill the blue connector on the HID kit... splice those wires into the stock harness.. and use the stock plugs like normal.. while having the HID wires go off onto their own thing..... Then I could use the high/low kit.

Alright, it appears I can either keep the relay harness that came with the bi-xenons... or get rid of it completely... and connect... hm.. oh idfk.. I think I'm gonna be using a lot of scotchloks.....lol..

I think I'm just gonna trash the bi-xenon relay and just have the low beam wires connect to each ballast individually... as for the high.. I'll connect it to the stock connectors.... and then I'll have to figure out the high/low at a later time.

Storlied, do you have a hi/low beam HID kit? If so all you are going to hook up is the low beam side of the kit. If you cant do that than you need just a single (low) beam kit.

Just saw your reply....HID is sensitive to voltage and any splices are usually done by soldering the wires as opposed to the scotch lock connector. If you cant solder than just twisting the wires together & taping will be better than scotch lock. Be sure to keep them the same length or shorter.

I'm just gonna forget about the high/low until summer comes around.

When the factory alarm comes on, does it trigger the low beam or high beam to flash the headlights? (my headlights quit flashing with the bi-xenon HID kit, so I don't know...)

I'm going to use all the existing hardware, only part I'm going to have to remove is the HID kit relay harness... because at this point.. I don't even need it.

With the way the bulbs come, with the extra wiring to connect the ballast Back to the .. well.. what would be the "stock H1 connectors" it's all plug-n-play just like nothing.. but I'll be back to square one as far as high/low goes... but like I said... that'll be a summer project.

In the mean time untill summer....sell your hi/low kit and get just a low beam kit.

The only difference really is the harness that connects your truck, to the ballasts.... that's the only difference between the kits (besides bulbs). If you want the harness.. you can definitely have it..

The single beam kits, don't come with this special harness... they depend on the stock connectors...erm.... I wish I had a camera so I could show you..

With these projectors... and the H1 HID bulbs... you got the wires that come from the bulbs.... they hook into the ballast.... and then you got two stray wires sittin around... goes to the other plug in the ballast... and those wires connect to projector H1 connectors... which comes out in the end as a 9007 connector...... Hope that made sense..

A little off-topic, looking for your opinion:
I've actually been debating on getting a mounty grill for these lights. (the older style that used the two piece headlight design.. and I'd stick my 500's behind it....... I think it would be a badass setup with these projectors in it..

That's oversimplifying things. A LOT of single beam kits come with harnesses, including the first HID kit I owned (still in my garage). Harnesses are all about drawing power from your battery and not from your stock wiring. They come in single and bi-xenon versions.

I dont know how much room (depth) there would be behind a Mounty grill (1997-) for mounting your lights.
Although with a couple of [_ angle brackets and a drill you should be able to get them in there. The PIAA 80s that I used are not very deep (3 1/8") and they just fit. Dont know about the depth of your lights.

Got them installed, I like them... but I'm gonna have to go back into the wiring mess because I have a few issues.

LEDs and Halos aren't coming on the passenger side, hid flickers and now isn't even coming on, on the driver's side. But that's user error right there... I'll get some pics soon once I sort all these issues out.

I custom wired mine, so the part above the projectors is a turn signal, not a parking lamp

The halos and LED's are a blue light, but its a white light not blue like you are thinking

You can wire these things up in oh so many different ways
I detailed the wiring changes I made to my lights in my install thread

my lights are slightly different, but not when it comes to wiring, they are almost identical
