Official ET/MPH List

CHEESYPOOFS- We all boast:) You have every right because you are right on our *****. You still haven't run with your new tune yet so you still have more in it. If you check the thread out of Techieman and me, we both were talking smack on who is going to win between us. I will admit I do expect him to beat me on thursday, but I told him that he will not beat me a second time!(Gotta boast a little:)) I like talking smack and creating drama before a race and I give credit where credits due and do not use excuses on why I lost. The guy I beat that had the Durango R/T bet me $50 bucks that he would win. I ran my 15.9 to his 16.6 and he had so many excuses why he lost, I just laughed and said whatever man. The win was more than enough. Since Techieman only plans on staying in second, I'm shooting for 1st;)

Naw unfortunately the 10.28 was with the tune but that was also going against 20 mph headwinds so without te wind i think i can run 10.1s. After im done with all my mods im aiming for 9.5 or so *crosses fingers* so i guess we'll see. Of course when my engine does die eventually im gonna throw in a ford racing boss 302 into it with 340 hp. Ill use the same intake manifold and bolt on mods ill finish with so it will be pretty sick. Ill grab #1 then lol ;)
Heres the engine im gonna put in when my current one dies (I figure getting a new engine is cheaper than buying a brand new car lol)

I hope that you are joking about that engine? I've got my custom built 347 on an engine stand right now, and it is easily 50hp better than that 302. That's about $2500 more than I have in mine, and you do not need the $2000 block for that power level. Don't spend such good money and end up with a poor camshaft, mediocre heads, and unneeded block.

If you truly have plans for a big budget, you should absolutely include a custom camshaft, designed for the heads that the designer knows how to work with. The best course is to find a cam designer who also sets up heads, and sells all of those parts. That way you know that the parts are compatible, and those are the most important selections to make. I have about $2100 in my heads and camshaft, including the rockers. Look around some more. I'll be a ways ahead of you before then.

Well origionally i was gonne get the sportsman for about 2 grand less and the same power levels but they dont seem to sell it anymore. But how would u suggest i go about it i mean this will be a long way away but what do u think? Should i find a different one? or get someone to build me one from an engine shop around here? I would think finding someone to build a custom engine for me would cost alot more and i dont have and engine building experience what-so-ever lol

I have built engines before, and I love doing it. This time however I wanted to get professional help doing a stroker, plus I wanted to see what it's like to not spend so much time collecting parts.

I ended up with an engine builder and cam/head pro who are highly recommended, plus they are in the same town. Fordstrokers and Camshaft Innovations have a very good reputation. No one is perfect but they do better at not being salespeople. They will be to the point, honest with horsepower, and prices, plus they are reasonable. Don't waste their time being on the fence about your needs. Go with a real budget in mind, and know the details of your plans. I knew basically what I wanted, and it took very little time to discuss and plan my engine. I had the idea of adding mild boost for this engine, and more for a possible future engine. That was no trouble to deal with for them.

Don't collect a few odd parts, some new, some used, all cheap or deals, and then talk to them about piecing them all together. If you start from scratch, you can buy a whole lot more engine than any crate engine anywhere. The base 347 is $1900, and that includes installation of a camshaft. So if you provide(or buy from cam guy Jay Allen), you can have it all assembled, and shipped to you, done.

The stock block isn't good for more than say 450hp, if you see getting close, then buy an aftermarket block. The Mexican blocks are rare but a little better than stock. I should have asked me about that, evidently they have been finding them, and I think $300 or so would get that. Discuss the compression ratio carefully, for boost it can't be too high. Mine is 9.65:1 for use with mild boost(9psi). With more boost it must be lower, with none you can go over 10:1 easily. Work that out with the builder when selecting parts, Woody there is great, just hard to catch on the phone. Wheen you get serious, go through their websites and contact them there or by email. Registering like a member gets you online chat time etc.

thx man when i get to this point ill check em out

Very good, pushrod Fords still can make good steam.

Well me a techieman33 met up yesterday to battle it out for second. Seems I lucked out and got the spot! I figured I would go ahead and post my time and enjoy second place for a week because he should beat me this thursday. If I have to post the slip for proof I will, but Tech's got my back I hope. (He did see the ass the the Ex once or twice down the strip:D)

Mods are 2.5" exhaust with 70 series flowmaster, electric fan, holes drilled in the front of the stock airbox with paper filter and a 93 tune from Hensonperformance.

R/T - .663 (I was asleep:o)
60' - 2.149
330' - 6.268
1/8 - 9.772 @ 70.02mph
1000' - 12.812
1/4 - 15.421 @ 85.87mph

I'm 4x4. I hope awdrocks hasn't given up on this thread:( He may just be busy trying to make his ride faster since we are all getting closer to him:D(even though we are still a ways off!) Now that I think about it, has he even got his new combo running yet?

Even if he did a moderator could still update it.

Yes Limited02 I will back you up on that, you did beat me with that time.

Here's mine

r/t .198
60' 2.237
330' 6.447
1/8 9.961
MPH 69.83
1000 13.03
1/4 15.65
MPH 86.00

Eric you are right there, the MPH is the same. Think cat pipes, electric fan, torque converter, camshaft, and/or .400" longer stroke.

Send me the money and I'll get right on it:D It's a slow process when you make $12 an hour:( But even so I think it's come a long way in 2 years.

Yes, I know about that, it may be that way for most everyone before long. Things change, keep at it.
