hi, i have a 2001 sport and i am looking to replace the oil pressure gauge with a mechanical, does anyone know the size of the T-fitting i would need to use to not mess with my check gauge light?

what are the list of parts you used and is it different from electrical to mechanical, and do i need to drain the oil because i already have full synthetic in

parts

I bought the parts from fastfittings.com because I couldn't find fittings locally. The sending unit is an AutoMeter for their standard indicator which I didn't use because of lack of space in the pillar pod. You would be better off to buy a complete package of meter and sending unit.

You don't need to drain the oil. Only a small amount leaks out when you remove the oil pressure switch.

Work space is very limited. It was an aggravating installation.

im getting the sunpro mechanical 2" white dial gauge, so its not a good idea to just ground out the wire for the OEM unit?

Keep stock as backup

Why not just keep the stock oil pressure switch like I did? It's always nice to have the indicator on the instrument cluster as a backup. Since you're going with a mechanical gauge space won't be much of a problem. The electrical sending unit is longer and wider than the stock pressure switch. All you have to add to the "T" is a small fitting connected to your oil line. Your pressure gauge kit will probably include a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter.

well with the mechanical its more reliable than the electric because of no need for a electrical circuit so i shouldn't "technically" need the stock and if i ever get rid of the truck it was going to be going with.
