Year, Model & Trim Level
95 ranger 4x4/ 91 X 4x4
ok, after posting on several boards, reading everything from craigslist to 4wheelparts.com, i am needing some help figuring out which tires would be best for my project X...the tire size is 35x12.50x15...the following are the tires i have found, and i'm needing some input on what would be good for both driving to and from the trails, and also on the trails...i have had bfg a/t's since they pretty much came out...the other models i don't personally know about, so thanks in advance...

1) bfg a/t's
2) bfg m/t's
3) bfg baja's
4) procomp m/t's
also 1 toyo tire lol...

5) Xterains i forgot to add...:D

I have had awesome luck with both the BFG ATs and MTs. I think you should go with a 37" BFG MT on a 17" wheel.

naw, stic-o wants 37's, lol...i am staying with 35's this year...and my wheels will be 15x8's :p:

1) bfg a/t's
2) bfg m/t's
3) bfg baja's
4) procomp m/t's
also 1 toyo tire lol...

1) Good for street, and lite trail, but you will not get far in the ruff stuff.
2) Good off road, but a little scarry in the rain on the street.
3) Way to much money, and they will ware fast on the street.
4) Good off road, has some siping that will do better in the rain on the street. Also can be picked up cheap, on the 4WP deals;)
5) no clue...

I really like my GY MTR's:thumbsup:good all around;) Watch Piarate for some great deals, it all about the right place at the right time. Also if you find 37's ...well you know:p:

stico, i know what???, lmao...if i do see them are you stuck on your 15" wheels or are 17" ok???
froader, i like the m/t's but i keep getting mixed stories on the procomp and bfg's one or the other is not suppose to be good in rain or ice and i do spend some time in big bear during the winter...should i add i have the aussie locker and 4wd in the icey mix??? but i do not want something to slide on the rocks either...:D

i do find procomps cheaper though i'm not sure how they will last???

bfg m/ts is my vote. if your gonna be doing only baja and you have millons of dollars, then go with the baja's (the tire almost every desert racer has) i like my mickey thompsons's alot, and they do REALLY good on the street for some reason.

Four years of 35" BFG M/T with detroit in the rear and L/S in the front. This was my daily driver and I did trails from the Rubicon to Big Bear to Truck Haven to MOAB.

It doesn't matter what tires you have for ice when you have a locker. I'm not really sure how much ice you're going to see, even in Big Bear.

Any tire will do good on the street if you take care of them too.

lol, my meaning was when ig go up it is when it's snowing like crazy and all iced up...i love it then...my ranger with the bfg a/t's never had a problem on cornering on ice or wet pavement...what i here on the m/t's, is they don't like wet roads...thats the part i am having difficulty with...when i go to havasu, parker, etc., even this time of year there is flash flooding in the deserts...are they ok on that kind of drive without having to be extra cautious is all i'm thinking about,??? thanks

They would have to be 15's I'm not ready to change wheels. And don't go showing me X-terranis! :p:

Besides...I think 37's look nice on my truck:smoke:

If you're going to be driving more street than dirt, i would get the A/Ts.

You mean 40s? That is huge!

stic-o, when did you get 37's??? and yes, i edited my thread as i did get offered xterrains...so those are the ones???

No it's only a 37. and only one:(

I picked it up for CG. he needed a spare and found one cheap in pasadena of Pirate. So I ordered my matching spare wheel, and I'm selling him my A-Team wheel:cool: and I get to play with it for a bit!:D

lemme guess there already sold? but anyways..

if ya look at my explorer registry u will see Stic-o's old wheels and tires on my ride don't have a clue when he got em but there still going since i have had them i have added about 5-6k miles before i parked that Explorer.
But in the time i was driving that truck i never had problems with em even in the rain
thinking about putting them on my 1st gen next but not sure yet.

froader, you are who i am looking up to for this answer..:D you ran them for four years??? no problem in the rain at all??? this truck will just be for freeway to the runs and trails only...even though it comes in real handy going to the store...i don't have to worry about door dings....;)

cybergasm, his old tires that you have are what??? you didn't say...

My thoughts. :D
This is your wheelin' rig, so NO AT's! Mud Terrain only. So your choices are BFG, ProComp, or MTR. Any will be fine, but I like my MTRs. I ran BFG for years and liked 'em, but MTRs are tougher, especially in the all-important sidewall.

You'll be fine in the rain and freeways with MTs, as long as you know what you're driving. (hint, it's not a sportscar!) ;)

i'm listening...so, a/t's not really, m/t's a major plus with good longtime wear...

2 new questions, xterrains and procomps in general??? as i said i have had the bfg a/t's for years and loved them for so many reason's...are the procomps as good a tire??? m/t's and xterrains???

Good point colin:thumbsup:

Cybers 33's are my old PC MT's never had any prolems with them.

many years ago I had BFG MT's on my old Ranger. I had a scary molment with them, I was driving on a paved, one lane dark, dark road in the rain that I ddin't know. The raoad turned, I went woah!, turned the wheel, and truck kept going straight! Not fun:nono:

On anther note however I barried my ranger up to the bottom of the tailgate in mud in Azusa (2wd truck) and got out under my own power with those same tires:cool:
