A 2000 5.0 explorer lm on the 3rd one in a week , I can't get it to work I fill it with fluid turn it all the way left and right then crank it let it idle for a minute then when I touch the steering wheel all hell breaks loose if you hold the wheel tight it will break your arm I need help desperately.

Jack the front up, start the truck, slowly turn the wheel left and right from lock to lock. Keep going until it smooths out. Lower truck.

You’ve got a ton of air trapped in there.

If I start the truck truck there is no turning it you can't even hold it I've never seen anything like it.

This is my first rack and it will be my last whenever I get it going

It shouldn’t be as violent with the wheels in the air…should be easier to get the air out

Beyond that, I’ve got nothin’

It is extremely violent on or off the ground and if you stop it it will blow the seal out the top, that's why I am on my 3rd one

Did you also replace the pump?
Something is wrong

Where are you getting the racks? A cheap rack will not cut the mustard here. I tried to save money on one for my wife’s FJ whoops I ended up buying a Toyota one a week later

Carquest or Napa have decent remans
Other places not so much

Can you run is through your install procedure?
Sounds like the pump is jacked up or? Have the lines plumbed properly?

Is the pressure release valve installed before the line it's supposed to go in before the power steering line if it's missing backwards or in the wrong position your symptoms would make sense
This is supposed to be swapped over from the old rack to the new rack when you're installing it
Maybe Someone will chime in and Explain more gooder lol

The new and remain unit I purchased, all of them did not come with the check valve. The units had a tag on them, noting too remove from old unit , and install in new unit.

According to the manual that's what it states

The check valve is in the bottom just like the picture with the cooler line hooked to it, the power line on top.

Not on my 95, my was like Donalds shows.
Did you install the check valve? Or did one come with the Rack?
The right side ports are the inlet and outlet side. (Comes empty and plugs)
The left side ports are pre-pumb.
The Right side Lower port is the inlet port, that were the check valve goes. The high pressure line from the pump goes.
The Right side upper port is the outlet port, that were the line goes too the cooler, than too the pump.

It came with it just like the pictures

I replaced the pump a couple of months ago

I replaced the pump a couple of months ago
And the rack 3 times. Might be bad pump out of box
My son's car was doing that violent wheel, took 2 pumps to get one good one.
