Rain X Latitude Wiper Blade?

RESULTS

Just shy of a year in and they are finally starting to streak.

Not bad life span in my opinion.

Truth be known though. I went back with the tricos.

I'm on a 3rd season with Silblades. Still going strong.

Char bought the Rain-X Latitude blades for the Corolla. Soon after I put them on her car I drove it in a rain storm. I can honestly say they are the best blades I've ever used. The blade wraps to the shape of the windshield MUCH better than any blade I've used previously. Since they worked so well on the Corolla I bought a set for the Dodge. These things flat work!!

I might invest in a pair...my budget pair skips and streaks like crazy..:(

when it starts to rain i use rainx to actually clean my window, crazy i know. but it works, i have driven in full downpours without even the wipers on the low setting, i love the stuff, pricy yes, $5.00 for a small bottle, worth the price, for me it is. I hate the distraction of wipers, not the sound but the wiper crossing the window. I use rainx and will never go back to wipers ever again.

I apply rain-x and use rain-X washer fluid. I love it, I never have to re-apply rain-X.

rain x love em

i love rainx whippers they are the best no sqweeks or chattering you cant even tell you have your whippers on they cost more but i will allways use rain x

I bought Michelin wipers from Walmart about three years ago, for around $7 each. They were silent and worked great for about two years. I also use RainX applied to the windshield, it doesn't help the wipers but the rain gets off faster, which helps you.

I haven't driven my 98 much in a while and the wipers are in need of changing. For the money I'll buy the Michelin wipers again if they still have them. Regards,

Mine are worn out is 13 months. When they worked they were great.

Thats about the same with any wiper for me.

I may give the Rain X wipers a go.

Well, you do get a lot more rain in Fla than we do here so any blade is going to get a good workout down there.

That being said, I used to change blades at least once a year with regular blades even without much rain. They'd stop performing well (dried out I guess). Not so with the Silblades so far. In our conditions, they've paid for themselves and then some because I don't expect to have to change them again for a while.

The Silblades were a hassle for me to get in Canada, so I'll definitely try these Rain X too when (if) mine bite the dust.

The heat kills the wiper blades as much as anything else.

I am using Michelin blades, installed them 2 years ago this past November. I am still very happy with them but I plan to replace them in April no matter what condition they are in. I will use Michelin again, also purchased from WallyWorld but I understand that the prices have increased quite a bit.

Good point.

Calgary is very dry so things do get brittle. The Silblades seem to be resisting that trend.

Ditto, this is a good thread for people to post how the price versus lifespan is for various wipers. If a wiper lasts one year but costs $20, why buy it? If they make noise ever than why buy them or keep using them? They do wear out, so the price does matter. If a wiper is cheap and lasts a couple of years, there's a bargain.

Thanks Lloyd for the update on Walmart having the Michelin wiper still. I'll be driving my 98 truck a lot soon, I'll go check them out again.

Yes, the sun kills the paint and all rubber parts, the dash and interior.

Reflex Wetec

I've had 18" Reflex Wetec wipers on my X for about a year now (made by Motomaster, purchased at Canadian Tire for $20 each). I bought them mainly because they look nice with their single piece frame-less design as well as for the "Wetec" feature which is something like Rain-X embedded in the blade.
Unfortunately, these wipers made noise and streaked almost from the get go. I may try cleaning the glass with alcohol, as suggested earlier in this thread, before I try new larger blades.

On the rear glass I've got a cheap 13" Motomaster winter teflon blade. After one season the thin rubber dress ripped and the wiper frame rusted pretty badly.

not streak free for long, wait a while,, i won't use them again,

I done got me a pair of 18 inch goodyear jobbies similar to rain x latitude ones and their the best blades i've purchased ever

After using them on two vehicles I have mixed reviews. They work great on my wife's Toyota. She used to go through regular blades super qucik as they always started to streak very quickly. The Rain X blades have been on about a year now and their still working well.

On our Dodge Ram the results haven't been as good. They started out streak free, but within a few months they started to streak very badly.

I would get another set for the Toyota, but not for the Dodge. I don't drive the Explorer in the rain enough to warrant the cost. They would dry rot before I ever used them:D
