Rear Window Wiper Problem!?

Can somone help me on this issue.

You can search this forum for more details, but this is a bad motor. Don't be surprised if you have to replace it more than once. I have cheap junkyard nearby, you can get them from autopart stores as well. From what I have read, both the original OEM ones fail as well as some of the aftermarket brands. Good luck, not a hard job at all, just take your time putting the panel back in since you will need to remove it to remove the motor.

tip: when/if you've replaced the motor, the rear window must be closed before the motor will work. i wasted a lot of time trying to test the new motor with the window open until that dawned on me.

oh, and the wiper arm spring is notorious for getting weak and that causes the blade to not contact the glass in the center of its sweep. my advice would be, that unless you really need the rear wiper to work, forget about it. it's not worth the time and money to get it to work properly and the fix won't last. it's just a bad design.

i was just able to watch (and listen to) your video. the problem with your motor is in the "PARK" function, which lowers (and raises) the arm so that it can start working and return to the full down position when you turned off. i've never had a motor apart, but it sounds like a stripped gear inside.

I agree with koda, our spring is shot so it only makes contact with half the glass. We ignore it. Too many other things to work on. But you are ahead in one area, you have a working radio display!

I'm thinking the most effective fix is to remove the wiper and install a blue oval on top of the hole. I've got at least 3 hours into this and no happiness yet. Went to the junkyard a couple weeks ago and noticed every Explorer (About 30 of them) had the wiper motor cannibalized from it. That tells me that no matter what you do, the fix won't last.
