Since I still don't have it inspected. And I really would like to know if this so called Off-road carb by Holley really works at steeper angles. I took it about 100 yards from my house and found this incline. Now this is no true test to speak of. But still, if it would not idle or flood out it was no true off-road carb.
Sure enough it worked fine. It was all most 40 degrees. I had a marker pre set at 40 deg. The angle was steeper then the camera made it seem. Look at the telephone pole in the background and imagine it straight up. It sure would have gone more but that's the limit of this incline.
I went slow because there was a guard rail at top :
Next week looks good for the inspection. I've got a temporary speedo that I'll install just for that inspection.
What ya know, it fianaly rained and I got a little WV pinstriping . The only problem was that I have no inner fenderwells and that mud gets slung between outer fender and body all over your arm. Not that, that is a bad thig . But some of that mud is gravel, ouch. So my solution was little mud flap connected to the removable fender.
Here you can see the gap between fender and body. You can even see the tire between the two.
Found some clear heavy vinyl about an 1/8" thick. Just cut to shape and install.
Paid my property taxes, got my insurance, and got my Damn tags I've got so many days to get it inspected. So am going cruising . I've never had so many people that I did not know waving and turning their heads. This thing even if it never hits the trails is a blast to drive. I had the doors off, the tail gate off, and the back bulkhead dropped down while I was driving. Went through a tank of gas
But first I need some food
Cruising down Interstate 81 toward Va.
Check this out. I wanted to know how the dynamics of the air flow was on that rear facing scoop. Just as I thought. The air really flowed into it. It seems like the hood wanted to pop off. Look at those two strips of paper I had taped to the top of the hood scoop. They were pointing straight down when stopped. But soon as I took off they wanted to get sucked into the engine compartment. Talk about fresh air to the engine compartment .
I'm not going on any off-road trails until this truck passes the modified inspection. Then I will go wheeling
One word can only describe the moment he pasted my modified inspection sticker on the windshield.........Hallelujah. It's been coming so long. Ive been all over this Shenandoah valley getting those much needed miles to seat those rings properly. Not that I need an excuse, or anything.
She cruises nice at around 2500 rpms. Just a slight pull to the right. But the alignment should fix that.
Also had to install a PCV valve in the valve cover. The little breathers that were there just had too much oil coming out.
Let me honestly tell you that nothing and I mean nothing has been more fun just to drive and cruise around in. And I've driven them all at some point. Now most were not mine .
It was funny at the inspection station. The first thing the guy said was, "you need some doors on this B2". I said now wait a minute, it's a modified B2 and that's why am here at your place trying to get a modified sticker. I explained that jeeps have removable doors and some have tube doors also. He said "I guess your right" and everything went great from there.
Thanks 410. Here some trail pics. Nothing great, but had to start somewhere, It was more of a shake down run then anything. But did find out that some things needed looking into as expected. LOL.
Well at least there's no pavement. This farm has a lot of woods, fields, hills and one stream. Plenty of mud when it rains, but no rain yet.
Not much of a crossing but, hey had to start somewhere. Going to have another 4x4 with me next time and do some more challenging stuff. But it sure was fun anyway.
There's just no rocks to climb on this farm. Will mud on the bumper work? Wish there was some rocks. Have to find some other spot for that. But we did have some rain the other night and actually found some mud. Not much but enough. Click on the link below.
Can't wait to get some kind of locker in this beast.
Up to running boards
Noticed that the plugs were running rich. These Holley's are jetted for sea level, and since I'm up about 2000 or more feet I went to one size smaller jet. This should lean down some.
Made a mistake putting this large a mirror on and mounting it that high. It blocks out a lot of area, especially when making a left hand turn. Almost ran head on to a car that was coming out of Burger King when I was making a left turn into the place. Also I noticed it blocked to much during some of my trail rides.
So out comes grinder with cut-off wheel and on goes another mirror from Auto Zone. Just one of many things that need attention while I get some riding time.
I really like the looks of this mirror. It flows with the body lines better.
That B&M shift kit coupled with that Hurst ratchet shifter is so much fun to drive. There is just no hesitation between shifts.
It does catch the eye of the local cops though
Need to reroute the exhaust on driver side a little higher up where it goes over rear axle. And also those rear outboard shocks hit some of the rear body sheet metal when stuffed. This is below the bed. Nothing that a sawzall won't fix.
I'll have some more wheeling pics soon.
Wow looking really good!!!!
I love the vid in the mud, I was like is he going to get out and run at the camera to turn it off, than bam there you were.

I would have edited that part out if I knew how
Today should be a fun day. It's the first time that my wife and I can go trail riding/cruising around together .
Going to let her do some wheeling
It's totally amazing how little kids are attracted to this truck. So many times kids that I don't know just come up and say " I just love that little truck". Yesterday a little girl in a parked car next to me with her parents leaned out the back window and said the same thing. To bad it wasn't a jeep or even better a Hummer that she was in: Although the guys in those trail rig jeeps that drive on the street do wave compared to the bone stock dudes that act like they don't see it : Hummer guys do the same thing. LOL.
This is the first time my wife wheeled it. She loved it. This is the only place I've been so far. It's on the farm that I hunt on. Kinda like a proving grounds. But there are no rocks . I'll find some somewhere. Not that it's built for any serious rock climbing.
