Seriously getting ready for an Expedition..

...A couple updates after the trip...

...Everything worked great that I had hooked up..

Fridge ran 12-14 hrs a night on the single YellowTop with no hint of a starting problem..Although I was able to get the second battery installed and all the wiring purchased,,I just ran out of time to do the last minute wiring..

..This is the little 200w inverter that I used on the trip just for charging the laptop and the phone..

..Besides the fridge working flawlessly (even when I bumped the temp dial and seen it had gone down to 18*), this item was a big hit as others found it easy to use for blowing up their bed's and ??....I got it at Target a few years back for $10 and it has paid for itself multiple times..:D

..And I must say, Harley enjoyed her new bed and this was her favorite spot between the scenic hikes..

"Harley"

Ted.. I showed "Poochies" photo to our friend Robin, she got a big kick out it! The fact that she went on our "Expedition" she thought was awesome! Her little one "Belle" was over today and looking for treats of course. stay safe, mjmcdowell

..Again, Thanks Mike..:salute:

...Yea, Harley travels all over but for some reason after this last trip, she acts like she is now being chauffeured..She jumps in her bed and poises her head up like "Onward James"..

..She's getting up in her years so I just obey..:D

Fuel Can

I just received this today!

It is a 5 liter fuel can, which I will use for Coleman fuel (white gas.) This can is much stronger, and has a far better seal than the Coleman cans, so it will survive a long expedition better - without leaking.

Obviously, for a weekend outing, you don't need this much fuel. But, on trip of a week or two in duration, extra fuel is a good thing. Especially if you cook a lot (which I wanted to do last month - unfortunately, the wind had other ideas.)

Can for Coleman fuel......

Scott, did you not see mine? exact same can! and it works awesome! I think it my be visible in Martins photos, you will be more than pleased with it! stay safe, Michael

..A couple questions..:D

How much?
Where?

..and are you going to add another can holder on your bumper for this?

Michael,

It is exactly like yours (I did get the idea from you, after all...)

Tbars,

I found at AtlanticBritish.com - link. With shipping, $34.00.

No, I'm not going to carry it on the bumper. It will be carried in the truck bed (possibly under the platform.)

..Fixed it for ya..:D

Fuel can....

Scott, Copy cat...... kidding of course, that's about what I paid up here in NYS good catch. I have done some re- arranging of the truck since I got home, it never really ends does it? Anyway I have some more usable space back of the seats, probably will have more stuff to store there....... I got an air pump!!! now I am pretty well covered in the recovery/emergency vehicle equipment! Get that engine swap done! I want to go to the Expo meet in June, keep it in mind, we could have some fun, I'm ready for a road trip! I think I am stuck on the over -landing/expedition/exploration trips. stay safe, Michael

I'm ready for another trip, too...

Another trip.....

Ted, Oh I am so tempted...... but one trip out west a year.... next year however is a whole new year!!:bounce:

June "Overland" rally/workshops...... I pulled the trigger...

Scott, Got the ok to go NC in June........ soooooo, I'm going for the whole deal. I hope I can see you there if only for a day or two. Engine, Engine, SWAP, SWAP!!!!!! plan, plan..... stay safe, Michael:D

..I wish I had a shopping list of stuff I needed from the Overland rally but as of now, I'm good till next season..:hammer:

..As for next years Expedition trip..:shifty_ey..It will be even better and closer to you guys..:D

..Only if it comes with the new little gem you just acquired..:biggthump

...Slowly but surely I have been gathering stuff for the camp kitchen...The following links are to just show the items and details of each..

Plates..

..I scored these plastic 9" plates at a local CVS pharmacy, 8 plates for five bucks..They look like they will make great frisbee's too..:biggthump

..Quick Mess Kit..

..Picked up this 2 person space saver kit at the local gun/camping store..$25

..9-1/2" skillet..

..I was going to get a 10" skillet but found this one for almost half the price at WallyWorld..$6.89..I just couldn't see frying bacon and eggs in the mess kit..

..Dual Fuel single burner..

..I scored this off of Craigs for $30 bucks..NIB minus filter funnel and never been used..I can get a filter funnel at Wally World for under $2..Coleman 1-Burner Dual Fuel Sporter II Liquid Fuel Stove..Burns camping fuel or unleaded gas..;)
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-1-Burner-Sporter-Liquid-Stove/dp/B0009PUQAU

..Still looking for a deal on a 2 burner stove and will eventually snag a stainless steel coffee pot for boiling water..;)

Instead of a 2-burner stove, you should just pick up a second 1-burner (like my setup.) They pack away much smaller, and when you only need 1 burner, you just pull out one burner.

Killer deal on the 533 stove, btw...

...I'm looking for a slim Coleman, 2 burner stove that actually fits in the padded bottom pouch of the camp kitchen I bought..;)

..I'm going to drag that kitchen around to the garage sales until I find a deal on one that fits..:biggthump

..More than likely it will be a propane one but the kitchen has storage pouches for the tanks..

..Updates..

..I forgot to mention a couple updates on a couple items I had bought...

..Fridge..

I sold the Norcold fridge as it was a little big for my use..In fact, 3 of us using it and when we went to restock at the grocery store in Barstow, we only bought $20 in groceries...Mostly soda's, chips, and lunch meat, since we bought all the main fridge stuff (steaks, choriso, egss, condiments, etc.) in Laughlin...

..We never even filled the fridge half full for the whole trip...The fridge was great and I would recommend it to anyone who could actually fill it up for a family on a 2-3 week trip..:biggthump

..2000 watt invertor..

..I sold that too, NIB...After being able to run the fridge efficiently on a single 12v battery and now that the truck has dual Yellowtops, I am going to be setting everything up as to run on 12v...I already started adding a dual 12v socket set in the bed of the Ranger..:hammer:

You clearly don't have a wife to take with you that needs to blowdry and curl hair.

Wish I had the money for the fridge. I saw you selling it but just didn't have the money.
