Heavy - I'm thinking from a backpacking point of view, not a truck camping point of view.

..Easy on the heating up cans...It's not like you guys can't name someone who actually can't boil water...:p:

...It was the first test of supposedly new items and it was a success so now I feel comfortable packing that equipment and not packing it as dead weight..Now I can start working on other items...

...It is a whole different world of cooking when it's not over an open fire...A lot more things to think about and have on hand, kinda like being used to working on the truck with hand tools and then quickly swapping over to air tools...;)

...With this next trip and more cooking happening a few concerns come to mind...Minimizing sizes of containers, storage and ease of access to these frequent items, weight and mainly trash hauling...

...Luckily I already have 2 trasharoos but found out this last trip it came in real handy for easily carrying all the snacks, chips, cookies etc. on trail and easily accessing them instead of having to dig thru the truck each stop..:hammer:

..The second one will be used for my trash this trip but I hate carrying trash when some pre-planning before the trip can eliminate most of the trash before the trip allowing for more storage and less hassle along the way..:biggthump

...Oh yea, I leave it up to Scott to be the camp cookie this trip too...Heck, I bet he's even home watching the cooking channel as we speak...:p:..

Cooking.......

Hey!......... how about a camp cook off... Scott vs. Ted, I'll help judge:D Michael

^^^ Known for his KP duty...:p:

...Scott would win hands down until it comes to the refrigerated items dept...:D

...I am currently looking at the 40qt size fridges as they are a lower profile and I think the 50qt exterior is still a little big for my Ranger set up but would be fine for my X..

...I seen a 40 qt engel going for $450 last week..Still no funds..:(

...I ran into these today at Home Depot...They had 2 sizes, a 20 gallon for $24 bucks and a 45 gallon for $45 bucks..

...It can be found here..
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

...It's sturdy, pretty light weight and is made of really thick plastic...It does not have a seal of any kind but it does have at least a good 1-1/4" tall lip to the lid..:biggthump

..I might snag a couple of the 20qt ones sell my other two before I beat them up..:hammer:

ScottB is part of Paula Dean's Posse

Paula Dean.....

Don't anybody tell Scott who Paula Dean is , let him research it..... ha! ha! "Now that ther is funny" !!!!!! Michael :D

...Trust me, Scott knows who Paula Dean is...She runs around his neck of the woods..

..Everytime I talk to him on the phone I hear her "Y'all" in the background and he always says, "Hang on a minute, I got to write something down"..:shifty_ey..:p:

...Cool item to have...:biggthump

..That makes you, Mike and myself in the Trasharoo group..:D

Hmmm....

Guess I won't be able to show my face, since I only have a regular trash bag in an REI stuff sack...:(

...You could have only a trash bag, we don't discriminate...:D

Chuck Kit Additions

Recent additions to my chuck kit.

I had a GI style opener (civilian version) which proved not to work too well while in the desert (nothing to do with the desert, I'm pretty certain...) I also tried a cheap, skeleton style opener, which proved to be weaker than the cans.

After searching for a while, I found this one in the grocery store. It is heavier than it looks, and very rigid - but smaller than the typical opener. Should last a long time.

I did not have a puncture-type opener (had to borrow one.) Not any more!

...Must have been operator error...:p:

...A couple updates on items...

..I found a few items at Wally World today that they are now carrying or carrying again..

..As for the good 7 gallon Aqua-tainer with the screw cap for the air release instead of the last rendition that had a cheap plug that would pop out, they are now carrying them again for $10.88

..The "Hobo" knife/fork/spoon kit like the one I have is back and is $3.88

...They also had a hard plastic, 3 pc. cutting board that snaps together to make a double or triple size cutting board..Lite weight and easy storage for $16.88

...They are also selling the same storage containers I picked up for the last trip available in either black or a grey, but they didn't have the prices on them yet...

..I did run across these as a new item..A multi spice shaker...Not sure how well it will last but it's a compact way of storing several different spices for a week or so trip..

..In the check out line I saw a magazine by ScottB's gal pal..:p:
