Perhaps If everything goes well the three of us (Texans) can rendezvous up somewhere around the DFW area
.

That sounds like a plan, I don't know where Sugarland is for MrQ's route, but I have to go thru the DFW area to get to SMORR. And it is kinda boring on US75 and 69 up to the OK turnpike.
(in order to bypass the traffic in Dallas on the loop, I take I35 west of Ft. Worth up to 82 and cut over east to 75 that way.)

I am on the southwest side of Houston. I'll take I45 to get to the DFW area, then 635 around Dallas, and 69/75 out to Oklahoma.

Mike lives in Denton, which is right on your route, so it may be a good idea for you to meet him there, caravan to Sherman, where I'll hook up with you guys.

A Texas convoy! That sounds great! The soonest I will be able to pull out will be on Thursday night. I will be trailering my rig, so I will be slower than you and Mike on the road, ya'll might be able to stop and have a 7 course meal while I am still plugging along!

 Seriously guys, no one is going to buy that crap, we all know the truth:D

You can't handle the truth!!!

I got some good news, on a sad day (RIP Al). If Mike and I get the tranny installed and it works, by Saturday...I will upgrade my status to "Attending", because if the tranny works, then the axle is the only thing left and that should be an easy swap (technically speaking).

Do a little dance! Get down tonite! LOL

Well that good news. I doubt you guys will have much trouble doing the trans & axle by July :D

About time somebody wants to get off the HUGE "Maybe" list

Man, I have wanted to, it was just a matter of making sure my rig was gonna be trail-worthy. :D

I just swiped this from the Moab trail run thread. I thought it was a neat way to categorize rigs for the trail. It think it would be a nice sticky as well, so people can identify what there vehicle can handle on runs.

EXPLORER VEHICLE CATEGORIES

Stock: self explanatory, 4wd with low range - up to "3" rated trails
SuperStock: 1.5" lift; 31" tires, skid plates, LSD (limited slip differential) in rear - up to "3+" rated trails
Modified: 2.5" lift, 32" tires, LSD front and rear OR one locker - up to "4" rated trails
Big Dawg: 4" lift, 33" tires, LSD in one axle AND one locker in the other - "4+" rated trails
Extreme: 5.5+ lift, 35" tires, both axles locked, winch, willing to take major body damage - BRING IT AWN, any trail!

I think I will classify as SuperStock...I like that...:D

Glad you brought this up MrQ.

That's a great way to classify out in Moab and other desert type areas.

We on the other hand...are going to be wheeling in the Woods...so to speak. The ratings are just a bit different at Smorr.

Example...some rated #3 trails, I would not attempt without 33" MT or bigger, lockers, and full skids + sliders. Not all are that way, but due to the traffic and weather, a #3 can become an extreme #5 overnight. I have been on a #2 one day, and the next, it is a gnarly #3.

Were going to be going from rock to dirt, back to rock, to loose gravel, to mud, to fallen trees, to water, etc.....The only thing that is a constant out there is the beautiful scenery, unlike a desert area like Moab where everything is a constant (including the beauty :) ).

If everybody spends a little time going through the Smorr website, and the Youtube videos, you will get a good idea what your in store for.

Yea I would agree, those ratings are good for Moab, not so much for Smorr, basically in our group runs smaller 33 and under rigs need to stay on 1 and 2s, and there are a few sections of 3s that are ok. Then 3s and 4s for the big guys, and not to many 5s are doable unless ur running a buggy like setup.

For your entertainment we present some videos from SMORR :D

Here is a stock Explorer on a simple area of a level 2. You can see why tires make a difference.

Here is an obstacle on a level 3.

Here is a EF member going down a level 4. Full size Bronco on 37's.

A #4 on a good day, a #5 on a bad day....V-Notch.

Here is a level 5. This is double Whammy.

Another #5

Yeah, I know there almost all vids of Jeeps. We don't have many good vids of our rigs out there yet. Hopefully after this meet, we will have some worthy footage.

WOW...I think I see what you mean.

That bronco was flexing like mad. I saw a couple of the boulders swallow those 37's and then the front end deciding to act on its own in the last part of the vid. I thought for sure it was going to keep going even without the truck!

I also love your pedal mash and bunny hop in the last video...

It looks like the float trip that was planned for that weekend was moved to the weekend before, so that weekend looks open for me. Anyone have any steel rims 4 sale? And where can I get the War153 shackles for the best price?
