- 98 Explorer Limited V8
Hi All,
Just wanted to show you a few pics of my truck getting the lift put on.
This is obviously a before pic.
DO NOT TRY TO UNLOAD YOUR TORSION BARS THIS WAY! VERY DANGEROUS! I have a gear puller that I would have normally used, but it had dissappered on me for the moment.

For all you wondering what a 98-01 torsion bar mount looks like.
Dead Link Removed
This is what Superlift's torsion bar drop down brackets look like. Note how it does'nt drop the transmission crossmember down like Trailmaster's does.
Dead Link Removed
Here is my "vaporware" gear puller removing the front hubs.
This is the front end completely stripped...... eek!
These are the lower control arm drop down brackets being installed.
This pic shows a good reason to go with a Superlift kit if you have a V8. One of the catalyitic converters hangs down quite a ways and would possibly get in the way of the drop down bracket on a Trailmaster kit because it uses taller or differently shaped bracketry. Where the Superlift's is shaped in a way to clear the converter.
Here is the steering knuckle completely installed.
This is reloading the torsion bars the correct way.
Lift 50% done.

Anybody installing a lift a V8 Explorer will have to contend with either extending this anti-axle-wrap-up bar or lowering the brackets. For now, mine are not installed because I hav'nt figured out what I want to do with them.
Dead Link Removed
I used Superlift's spring-over-axle conversion for 91-94 Explorers in the back. Their axle perches have shock mounts welded to them which need to be ground off because they get in the way of the beefed up 95 and up sway bars. I ended up using the factory mounts instead.

After the axle is in its new home, you can see how much longer the anti-wrap-up bars need to be. (the factory shock mount is only temporarly on the top of the leaf springs just to hold things together until I get my different U-bolts).
Dead Link Removed
This is what the finished product looks like in the rear after I got the new "square"-bolts(they wrap around the leaf spring not the axle). Note; your brake line bracket needs to be just simply bent down a bit to have the proper length at full droop. This set up also allows you to use your factory length shocks.

Lift 90% finished. Looks a little goofy with P235s though!
Dead Link Removed
Keep looking in the before and after threads to see it what it will look like with 33s and whatever else.
See ya!,
Darren
