Recently there was a post about a door lock actuator not working. There was a comment about a stripped gear. I questioned about there being gears in the actuator because mine work instantly. I reasoned that if there were gears, the actuator would work slower. Imagine my surprise when one of mine quit working and I removed it today. I disassembled the actuator, and guess what, GEARS and a rack. Just goes to show we are never too old to learn something new. I just wish someone would have enlightened me when I posed the question then.

yeah, you might guess there'd be just a solenoid inside there, but there's almost a freaking transmission!
