Sync ver 2.6?

From what I can see, much of the problem seems to deal with cell phone compatability and the communication between the phone and the MFT jamming up the processing which causes the entire system to slow down and can result in any of the functions failing. And since all these cell phones communicate in a different way, the programmers are having trouble getting them to function without issue. Then to add on top of that, new cells phones will constantly be released in addition to software updates on the phones which could change how they communicate.

Since this is a dynamic issue, there may never be a version of Sync / MFT that is fully functional for all users.

Can Ford refute that statement?

I'd like to hear it.

Even without using any of the cell phone related functionality the system is slow, buggy, laggy, etc. They've banked on Microsoft and Microsoft's name is all over the car, they should get Microsoft to pitch-in on a solution to the problems. I've said in other threads that they really should start from the ground up on Windows Automotive 7 w/ Silverlight.

My MFT is simply frustrating. The phone does not sync all the time and the system freezes often (1-2x per week). Once I reset the system, it works fine for a couple of day's then it freezes again. Thanks to Ford, the owners manual is not correct with the location of the fuse box..and the fuse if very hard to get to once you find it. Is it just me or would it have made sense for Ford to install a re-set button for the Sync/Touch system? I am not looking forward to pulling the fuse weekly forever.....

Concerns about SYNC

@broadway

Thanks for your feedback broadway, and I just wanted to reassure you that Ford will continue to offer software updates in the future. These updates will continue to correct functionality of several features and add enhancements and compatibility improvements.

To everyone:

In regards to the concerns with v2.6 being displayed on syncmyride, I can confirm that the description for the version information will be corrected by early next week. Those of you who currently have v2.6 displayed on your syncmyride account actually do have the latest SYNC software version. Please check your sync owner account early next week to see the correction.

For the VIN validation concerns, please be advised that there are back end configuration checks that are performed pre-delivery and your VIN will be properly displayed at the time of delivery.

Hope this helps! As always, feel free to PM me with any further questions. Thank you.

Thanks Seni. That is good news. After waiting (longer than hoped) to take delivery of our X's, I think some of us were concerned what we'd do if the MFT screen was found to say Lincoln, or something else on it (due to wrong software load) :)

I just had my X to the dealer today to upgrade to 2.7 . After finagling around with my phone, I got it to talk to the MFT (my wife's phone hooked right up). I do notice a couple improvements.

1. The MFT screen now appears to stay where you last left it. Before it defaulted back to the 4 block setting no matter where it was. Now when I leave it with my background up, it returns there when I come back to the truck.

2. My phone seems to sync up quicker, and so far it has found it every time. I had issues with it not seeing my phone all the time in the past.

Haven't seen anything else yet, but I'll post up if I notice more changes.

I appreciate your opinion about the software. Also like your taste of cars and colors. I have a build date of 4-11-2011. Have owned a couple of nice explorers, one mountaineer, and a couple of lincolns. Have had great luke with all. We also come from Ohio. We are waiting for limited platinum, polished wheels, four buckets, bliss. Thanks fo

Thanks Seni, I'll be looking for the change next week. However, it does not make sense why our VIN's do not register. Not only that, but everyone who is showing v2.6 gets the VIN error. There is clearly an issue with this.. We shouldn't have to wait for it to get to the dealership for syncmyride to recognize a VIN when thousands of other orders work just fine because they show v2.7.

Granted it's not like we can do much because we don't have the vehicle, but if they "fix it" so 2.7 shows on syncmyride, we should also have the VIN error message go away as well.

What about Album Art on MP3 files? Anyone know if that is diplaying properly (Gracenote or no) in 2.7?

Haven't tried any MP3's yet. Have to see what happens if I plug a mp3 player in.

I was lucky enough to speak to a couple key people in Ford about this issue and was advised this is a huge deal for them as well, they are taking it very serious, and there are people working 24X7, no days off on the MFT issues.

A new flash will be forth coming shortly.

They agree its unacceptable and assured me it's not being taken lightly.

I am as frustrated as the next guy but I think we should give them a few weeks to work through the issue because I believe when all the facts come out the finger will point towards other suppliers of software/hardware and not Ford.

I imagine Microsoft will also bend over backwards to make sure customers are happy as well. MS really wants(needs) to be the market leader in this fairly new market. Between Ford and MS, I expect the customers will continue to get frequent updates and the experience will continue to get better and better.

It sounds like a catch 22 for FORD. OK, there is a software problem as these new Ex's as come off of the assembly line: A) Should FORD put all of these Ex's on hold at the factory where there is no room to keep them and *&##off everyone until they can fix them or B) Keep them moving and let the dealerships fix them? Either way someone is not going to be a happy camper. I have V2.4 and have had little issues so far and it has fixed it's self by turning off the engine and back on again. Same thing with my laptop, just reboot it. If you have to have the latest version well guess what, it will become outdated in a few weeks anyway. I think that some people should just stay away from SYNC/MFT and buy something else if they are that scared of it not being perfect. Don't get made at me, it's just my take on things. If I was waiting on a new one I would want to keep it moving to the dealership. The dealer can keep it until it's fixed and then I can pick it up the next day without waiting two or three weeks for delivery from the factory. Keep on Exploring.

Some things to consider...yes I know it's warped...

If MFT worked flawlessly, then the reviews for these would be beyond glowing - since that's the main thing reviewers are getting hung up on.

If MFT "issues" weren't being reported, and obviously scaring off some buyers, then there would be even more demand.

Since Ford can't keep up with the demand we have, more demand would mean even longer wait times, and my guess is many of you who have X's wouldn't yet, and those of us waiting would be waiting even longer.

So...a few bugs at the beginning, which can be corrected shortly, may be in our best interest :)

A slight update. Checked on the Syncmyride site and mine lists 2.7. Unfortunately the update did not fix the lack of it's ability to read the artist/track data of CD's, but it is quicker.

Do you mean that if I leave it in the Nav screen that it will start up in the Nav screen? Or do you just mean that it will stay in your preference (of the 3 choices) for the home screen?

It stays on which of the last 3 screens you had up. It does not come back up in Nav.

I just got my XLT this past Saturday. I had to go back to the dealership to have it inspected on Monday and I asked about my Sync version and I was told that my 2.4 version is the most recent. I mentioned version 2.7 and they said they did not hear of any new updates past 2.4. Should I go back and attest that they check their records about version 2.7? Syncmyride says no updates are available.... Thanks

I had quite a few issues with my Explorer with version 2.4. My dealer just re-installed version 2.7 yesterday and it works great. Ford customer service email is below referencing technical service bulletin 11-03-15 for the update. Good luck.

We apologize for the inconvenience you are having with using your phone with SYNC. I am showing that your vehicle is eligible for a dealer installed update. Please contact your dealership and reference the technical service bulletin 11-03-15 when you schedule your appointment.

Sincerely,

Ford Motor Company

For those asking about 2.7. It will not show up on syncmyride.com . It requires the vehicle to go to dealership for about 1-2 hours for the upgrade. After the upgrade is done, it will show up in syncmyride as the version installed on your vehicle.
