It's a giant river bed Gerald. In the state of Texas all river beds are public land.
You can fish but no hunting.

I'll bring the mustard, pickels, relish, ketchup, and paper towels.

How's the dove hunting there? :D

Its public land out in the middle of nowhere, about 10 miles outside of a town called Kingsland, near Buchannan dam.

Not sure about the dove hunting, lol, but im sure you can shoot at a couple catfish. :)

Don't think the Game Warden would be too happy with this.
I really don't want to get there and then get kicked out and fined because of something stupid.

Keith,

You should know me better then that, relax, we are just kidding. :)

I dont know how many of you eat breakfast, but I can bring eggs and bacon and some drinks. Anyone bringing any cold ones for saturday night at camp? Also, How many open seats does each person have in there ride? I got a couple responses.

Food and Campign

I'll bring whatever needs to be brung, someone just let me know.

I've been off the board for a while and am temporarily Explorerless due to a lack in judgement (I thought I would like having sportscar, but no such luck).

I don't know how set everyone is about caming at the river, but I was looking on the net and found a campground in Kingsland with tent sites for $10 plus $1 for power. They have showers etc. Their website is Dead Link Removed. I don't know if anyone is interested in this as an option or not.

Meeting at 9 am is good with me, the more wheelin time the better.

I saw that website Michael, looks good.
I will be camping out at the river.
I believe it was Keach that said his wife was pregnant and would be staying at a motel, not sure if Keach is still coming. Hope everything is ok.
We will just meet at a certain spot in the mourning and start wheeling, so everyone can stay where they want.

I will just set up camp where everyone else does. I can hose off in the streams if need be. Hopefully there not to cold already.

"Anyone bringing any cold ones for saturday night at camp?"

Yes, Rod's Bar will be open. ;)

I will have one open seat, possilby a spot in the back as well. Im sure there will be plenty of room available.

Okay, kewl! Brian's Bar will be open to then. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt the only one. Okay Well I will call a seat w/ Sinjin. I will have a friend so we will make room for him. Okie Dokie its pulling through then. Who is the craziest out there (driver)

Keith,

Do you have a list of All the comfirmed people that are going (so far) that way it is easier for us to deside what to bring.

BTW I e-mail a Few other Explorer Owners that might want to go that are not on the TExplorer mailing list.

I'm confirmed

I'll bring hotdogs, chili, buns, cheese, relish, red onions for "superdogs". I may have a friend and his son riding with me; still trying to work that out. I'll be sleeping in Waco Friday nite and down there by 8:30 am Saturday morning.

Good News..Bad News....

Well first the Good News.

My parents have swithced weekends, so I can hit the Slabs!

Now the Bad News....

My tranny blew up and now I can't hit the Slabs.

Front Seal blew ( Again ) and I toasted the tranny.
I put all the details in "Under the Hood" forum.

Oh well, I'll get thier later.

Chips are cool and I will bring some 12 packs in an ice chest.

Gofast, Sorry to here about your Tranny. It is too bad your not going to get to join us. You might look in to one of the 9 speed auto I heard about some where on this message board.

Rob Im sorry to hear about your tranny, glad that you and the little man made it home safely, sounds like quite an adventure. Well, hopefully you will be able to make it down when your truck is better then ever.

To all attending the slabs run:
Went out there to do some scounting this weekend, although it was about 50 degrees, and dropped down to about 45 by the time we left around 9pm, we had a great time, climbed some rocks that I didnt think I could, and found some bypasses for those who might not want to try the harder trails just yet.
The weather is supposed to warm up by this weekend. So we are all set up here, cant wait to meet everyone on Saturday morning.

Oh yaa, if anyone could bring a couple cords of firewood that would be great, and the more lanterns the better.
