Are you talking about going to the slabs. I almost made it to the last run they had out there but I couldnt due to not having enough truck to make it in the conditions Austin is like a second home to me, I used to live in Bastrop which is about 20 miles outside of Austin and I was in Austin just about every weekend. I wouldnt mind taking a trip up to Waco either, I here there is good off-roading in the Killeen area.

I have a friend she owns a house in Bastrop and I mountain bike there at Rocky Hill Ranch and Warda too!

I wish I could make it but Im not even in Texas right now. I wont be back till the end of August. If you guys have a run after that I will try to make it. Who knows, maybe Texplorers will be a club again by then.

What time do you want to meet tomorrow, I'm at the Hewitt exit just south of Waco before Lorena, it should take you approx. 1 1/2 hours to get to me pending on your driving habbits (grandpa driver here) .

Need to know so I can alert some others that may or may not want to go.

From Hewitt/Waco it takes about an 1hr 15 min. to get to Kingsland, and to 360 I would say about an 1hr 45mins. and did you ever find out weather it was legal to wheel at 360 or not???

And you made 360 sound pretty aggressive, should this be attempted but a stock Navajo with 30-9.50's???

I'm still planning on going no matter what.




As for trips every two months, I can do this, or pending on you new found father-hood (Congrats! ) we could also do a monthy trip too.

I'm pretty impulsive and some what flexible on the schedual, I have weekends off.
Paid hollidays, ETC, ETC.

So, do we want to take over http://texplorers.rockcrawler.com or make a new site at http://www.texplorers.com? If we want to take over the old site (with the annoying pop-up ads ) we need to know how to get access to it for file uploads, etc. If we want to make a new site we need to buy server space and the domain name. I've got a buddy that hosts web sites pretty cheap; includes e-mails, php and perl scripting, database support, etc. (You guys with some web know-how will know what that all means. To the rest, it's cool and it's cheap.)

Anyone care to take the lead on this?

Hey by the way I am gonna go out to the slabs with SVO and MUSTANG1923 tomarrow instead of 360. 360 area to offroad is between FT. Worth and Grandpraire border, one entrance is right by the golf course beside the river. SVO and MUSTANG1923, call me I emailed you my number so that we can get a meeting point. Oh and I will not be heading out until tomarrow at about 6 a.m.

I live just a stone throw from 360 and the Trinity River (on Green Oaks), and I've always kept one eye on the side of the road, looking for turn offs.

Is this the area you're talking about?

It looks like there's a bunch of trails just east of 360, and north of the Trinity, just south of the railroad overpass. Is that it?

I'd be willing to help with the new site as well. I think you should get some new space and take Texplorers.com and run with it. You could always have a link to the old site in an archival sort of way. I think it would be better to start over mostly so you would have a more legit member list, and put your own pictures up, etc.

We should start a new thread, or take the relevent parts out of this one and make a new thread out of it..

Are you guys planning on staying the night and wheeling some on sunday?

East side, of 360 right after the river there is an entrance. There is also another way in. Watch out for the first 300ft of trails into it, if your gonna get stuck that's where it will happen. Once you make it past those big mud holes that seem to never end you get to the really cool climbs and trails.
