Awesome thread, ive spent about 30 minutes checking it out. :D

If i might add, i know they look alot better but get rid of the shock boots if you're in it for the long haul. My rig was from southern AZ... no mud, no rain, no winter, etc... the pic below is rear shocks facing down but the front were up and look the same-

the plastic will not take herculiner very well, it does take duplicolor plasticoat very well though....

I was afraid of that! I have the duplicolor already, but dont think that will hold for long either.

I am attempting to address the transmission heat issues--

coolers installed

Then I installed 10" fans

Wiring the controller took a while, as it opened a can of wiring worms

Then the bumper. I am having a bit of difficulty getting it where I want it, as the tow hooks are just in the way. I am going to adjust them. This is where it is tonight. Not quite done yet.

That looks very good, matching coolers and fans. I like the blue PS cooler also, did you add one or replace the stock one? I looked hard at the PS cooler and trans cooler. I was going to use an extra trans cooler to replace the PS cooler, it'd be a tight fit.

Do you a deep trans pan already, and an external filter?

The external filter is next. I wanted to located the coolers and work out the lines so I knew where I could install it.

As far as the power steering cooler goes-I just used duplicolor's "metallics" blue, about 5 years ago--lol
It kind of looks anodized.

That's funny, and I'm glad it worked. I just painted my trans before taking it apart, and I used one of those metallic blah blah paints. It doesn't look as suggested, but I like the hue a lot. I was after something not the screaming silver that everyone uses. This is off silver, half way to gray I'd call it.

If you can find room for two filters, I recommend the Amsoil bypass adapter. You've seen it on Al's truck, he put it on the frame behind the right #2 body mount. It likely will add 2.5 quarts of fluid, and it costs about $125 with the special filters, and no lines. With my trans out, I'll run a steel line over to the driver side frame, to place them in the outlet line going to the radiator.

Don

Please tell me that $1125 is a typo.

If it is $1125 it is not happening. lol

Sorry, I do proof check my posts, but I do miss important things sometimes.

The bypass adapter for two filters is about $75 with the brackets and shipping and tax. The filters are close to $50, the regular filter is under $15, but the bypass filter is close to $30. I hate their shipping costs and having to pay sales tax on everything. They direct sale through dealers, which exist in every state, so you have to pay taxes in any case. Sorry about the misprint, LOL.

Well, since the bumper had to be removed to lower the tow hooks a few washers--:p:

I took care of the floppy rubber transmission lines. I just couldn;t seem to find a satisfctory method of running them, so I hard lined all of it.

Lots of clamps:D

lol.. awesome. your truck is too clean. needs some luvin from some rocks :p

Trans cooler-bumper replacement is just about complete!!

Here is a close up of the fans behind the bumper

As for the bumper-it was pretty dented. I used jb weld to fill, over and over until it was filled in well, then sanded the whole thing with 80 grit. It was then washed real good, allowed to dry, heated to 325 and shot with Smoked chrome powder, then baked to 390 for 2o minutes. It then was cooled and I shot it with mirror clear, and rebaked for another 20 minutes

Here is detail --driver side

And a side shot, just to show I finally have matching bumpers and plastics

I think the side now needs a darker gray, and it will look half way decent then.

sick sick sick.... but looks like it would be hard to get something on the tow hooks...

Very nice, I wish my front bumper had that tough paint on it. The plastic doesn't like brick mail boxes. Good work there.
