I still havent had it happened again and it hasn't rained for a while so I'm waiting for it to happen again to take it to the dealer.

I did give it a nice wash and nothing happened.
That’s great news, Joeymustang; I’ll keep a life preserver on hand (just in case). ;)

I think we need the life preserver.... Today Wifey got into her Ex and made it 150' to the end of our street. When she stopped for the Stop sign, she heard the all too familiar sound of running water and then got a cold shower from the headliner. Unfortunately our 2 year old son also got a shower of ice water too, (his second with this stubborn leak). I thought I got it bad when I opened the front door, took my wet son inside and she cried out, "CALL FORD! TELL THEM THEY BETTER HAVE A CAR READY!" Seems they got far worse then I did. Here's to hoping trip #5 with this leak is the final one....

Hi Edgieguy,

I'll throw you a life preserver, an umbrella, and even some tiny rain boots for your son! :D

Seriously though, I want to arrange for a follow-up call from your CSM. Send me a PM with your current mileage and I'll make sure you're contacted quickly.

Thanks!

Crystal

New vehicle parked in the garage until dealer has leak specialist available to determine exact location and repair it. The thrill is gone. Driving my daughters 2009 4 cyl. Fusion. Not happy.

I have a 2011 that has leaking roof been to dealer twice .The second time I took in posts from the internet on the problem. Ford has no service bullitan on problem but when my dealer called they said they are aware of issue. They have to remove all the headliner re-seal the seam in roof and repaint

This is a crazy issue a roof seam leaking should not happen . I can understand a sunroof leaking issue sometimes happen .

There are prob more people with problem but they just dont know it.
The water was in the 3rd seat area which not to many sit in and I only noticed a few drips at first.

This was my first ford ever and I was considering buying out the lease on this car (WAS). With a 2013 with the same issue and I just saw a post on a 2013 Escape same issue .I will have to look at a different car company.

LEAKING ROOF SEAMS come on Ford....:(

interesting they say its the sunroof...because mine doesn't have one lol

They did however do some work on the wiring for the interior lights (which wasn't working) and had to take the headliner off for it.

I'm thinking that it is more related to the rear wipers, the piping goes over the headliner and I've had some serious issues with getting water back there, guess we'll see what the dealer says

It is a roof seam problem .My 2011 was leaking found posts on issue dealere has to remove headliner stip seams reseal a repaint roof on explorer. Ford is aware of issue if dealer makes a phone call. There are no service bullitans yet. Search roof leaks 2011 -2013 explorers you will see.

NOT FUNNY Crystal
Ford should be able to provide cars that wont leak from roof seams. This needs to hit the news then maybe they will step up.
Having a $40,000 car with seam leaks and yes Ford is fixing buy taking apart and repainting a new car that will never be put back together as well as it should be

yesterday I went thru a car wash and when I got outside and press on the brake I got a nice shower

-_______-

guess I have to really take it to the dealership again

Sad to say that Monday I picked up the Ex and dropped off my Edge Sport. My dealer installed a completely new sunroof assembly. It rained all Monday night, and Tuesday morning. When I left for work, Tuesday I heard a splash and the second row was drenched. This time our after market DVD players for the kids got soaked and shorted out... Things are going from bad to worse. Today I dropped the Explorer for the 6th time. Yes, this is the 6th time that the dealer will have our Explorer. The sixth week we'll be driving a loaner that has ALL AMERICAN FORD RENTAL CAR written on the back in huge white vinyl letters. Wife is pissed. I don't blame her, the dealers service manager doesn't even know what to do next, his jaw dropped when he looked at the flood a day after he put in a new $2800 sunroof assembly. My concern, beside the carpet that's been soaked 6 Times is that the headliner is loosening up with each attempt to make a repair. Don't forget that these things are supposed to go together and stay together for the life of the vehicle, not get soaked and pulled down week after week. Our next problem will be squeaks and rattling from the headliner!

I am thinking you are very close to earning a lemon law claim, if you haven't already. It is not going to be that much longer before your car will have to classified as a flood salvage vehicle. You should be getting new carpet, new 2nd row seats, new DVD system, plus all the things getting wet that you don't even know about. Your vehicle obviously has a serious defect that they are unable to repair. You have the right to a defect free vehicle that your defect free funds paid for.

I suppose. Just sucks cause we special ordered ours, waited while it was built, and then drove it suffering through all the early MFT nonsense, just to get things straight finally in the spring, now everythings just gone to hell so quick. My wife hates the truck, hates her rental car, and hates dealing with this week after week for all these months.

HAve them check roof seams. My explorere was just in for a week with sililar issue. There is a gasket material that was not placed properly they had to take it apart and fix seam.

Headliner had to be removed to do the fix. Even the part of roof had to be repainted.

I can understand that. New cars are supposed to be fun, aren't they? I hope you do look into the lemon laws though. They may never get the car quite right, and you shouldn't have to put up with all of this. Good luck in whatever you decide to do, and I hope it all works out :)

Hi Edgieguy,

Have you contacted your CSM, Cynthia, to let her know about these recent developments? If not, I'm happy to have her contact you. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed and I'll get to work.

Thanks,

Crystal

Thanks Crystal,
We've been in near constant communication thanks. By the way, the speed at which she's replied has been wonderful. If only the guys working on the vehicle were as thorough and timely.

I have my appointment tomorrow for the leak...hope it goes well, we even have it set up so that they pass the car thru the car was to redo the setting. I'll let you guys know how it goes

I am having the same issue. At first it was only when the lift gate was open. Now it seems to be leaking all the time. Took it in the shop. Hopefully they will get it fixed. I am at 29,300 miles so my warranty is almost up. Anyone have any recommendations to make sure it is fixed the first time.

I just noticed I get water leaking on my 2011 Base model. It seems only happen when it is parked downhill, when it's parked uphill or level surface it is fine.

It is also on the thrid row passenger side, mine was built June 2011, so I am guessing most 2011 models will have this water leak.

My dealer will be getting a third party specialist to have to checked, hope it doesn't take too long

Just wondering if they found a fix for your 2011??

Hi MatDHan,

I want to assist by getting your case escalated to your region's customer service manager. They'll collaborate with your dealership on a solution for your concern. To get started, simply send me a PM with your VIN, preferred servicing dealer, daytime phone number, and full name. I'll do the rest!

Thanks,

Crystal

Hi Candacelee,

Have you been to your dealership so that a Ford certified tech can inspect? This is the ideal first step. Additionally, I want to get your case escalated to your regional customer service manager so that they can work with your dealership on a resolution. To get started, send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name. I'll get to work!

Thanks,

Crystal
