What kind of headlight bulbs do you own?

I installed Euro Dezigns Xenon - Krypton 6000k HID bulbs in my explorer. Brightest lights i have ever put in it, puts out the blueish white light for the HID appearence. DOT legal.

Sylvania stated on Ford Truck World that they only guarantee the SilverStars for 6 months. This is becasue the white light the bulb produces is very hard on it and causes it to burn out more quickly that other less bright bulbs. So in actuality you probably got the average expected lifespan from Sylvania out of them.

serious bulb upgrade

i have upgraded to the toshiba halogen infared bulbs.

the halogen infared is a fairly new technology and is a huge kick over standard 9005 and 9006.

the 9012 bulb is a plus 88%!
the 9011 bulb is a plus 55%.

standard wattage, the only thing that hurts is the price. about $35.00-$40.00 each! x4, ouch.

incredible boost, huge difference.

bulb info courtesy of manufacturer.

HB4/9006 standard low beam:
55W @12.8V
1000 lumens
3200K (color temperature)
Rated life: 800 hrs

HIR2/9012 HIR low beam:
55W @12.8V
1875 lumens
3800K (color temperature)
Rated life: 1000 hrs.

HB3/9005standard high beam:
65W @12.8V
1700 lumens
3250K (color temperature)
Rated life: 225 hrs.

HIR1/9011 HIR high beam:
65W @12.8V
2500 lumens
3800K (color temperature)
Rated life: 300 hrs.

these should only be used if you have a sharp [top] cut off on your beam pattern. these are great with the new explorers and expeditions.

Those bulbs on Ebay are crap. Don't waste your money. I have to totally agree with xlt-sport on the HIR bulbs. I upgraded my H3 bulbs in my IPF driving lights and they are AMAZING!!! The light output is so crazy bright. I had 130 watt bulbs in them before and put the HIR bulbs in to save some strain on my alternator. The HIR's are 65 watt and I PROMISE they put out the same amount of light as the 130 watts did. Plus they don't burn as hot as the 130watts did so they should last longer.

The color isn't really that white however, they are just slightly whiter than a stock bulb, but I don't care. I want the light down the road, not just the appearance factor. Since I have HID headlights, I have plenty of light on the road to begin with.

I would highly recommend the SilverStars if you have the 9007 bulbs. I had them when I had an Explorer and truly liked them. My entire family uses them in all of our vehicles.

I ordered some silverstars a couple days ago

i think i'm the only one that was totally disappointed with my silverstars. i switched to Piaa Xtreme White Plus bulbs and i was happy with them. i bought the 9007s for my headlights, the h1's for my factory fog lights and the h3's for the halla 500s on my roof. i absolutely love them.

i have heard a bunch of people who bought silverstars are very disappointed with them, i bought some general electric blue headlights a while back they were better than the stock ones. I had a friend who had some headlights that just happened to fit my x, i dont know what kind they were the whole package was in japanese or chinese. but they are bright. People flash their lights at me all the time as if i had my high beems on, then i flash them back and blind them, they work good.

Do you need to upgrade your wiring with the Silverstars? Anyone got a direct link for a good site to order them from? I would order the foglight ones too but my foglights keep blowing the bulb out a little after i replace it so im not about to spend money on more bulbs til i fix that.
