"Will This Work"

Nice work Winter!
You gave me a great idea for my tire carrier when I go to the SAS. Receiver in the wheel center for accessories. What an awsome idea. So simple, yet so useful. Especially if it is extended a little out from the wheel center so it could act as a mounting guide for those heavy tires since there is no way I am going to attempt to fabricate a fold down tire carrier. Can't do it now because I have a spare hub where the receiver would go.
I welded a short piece of old 1-3/4" tubing pointing straight out from the wheel center location on my buddy's Jeep tire carrier to help hang those heavy tires. Gives him a place to swing it up onto, then take a break before you line up the studs.

Any updates?

Sorry,:( No update's! We took the summer off on working on the truck. I've been working 7 day's aweek since May and Winter been working on other project's right now, so maybe by Oct. thing's will get back to normal again.

Well, after a long summer, were back at it again!!:D Winter has finished the rear spare tire carrier. It just need's to be painted when that time comes.
Here are some picture's of the finish project.

1. first one is the complete project.
2. second one is in the complete locking position.

3. the red handle with the hook, keep's the tire carrier from rattleing when it's
in the lock position. It pull's the carrier in close & tight. When you need to open the carrier, you just pull out on the handle and unhook it from the frame and then lift up on the black tee handle and pull it open with the upper handle on the carrier. Also the red polyurethane cap at the top also help's keep the carrier from rattleing and tight.

4. the locking pin.

5. Locking pin in place to keep the carrier from moving when in the full open position To unlock you just lift up on the handle.

...Now throw some tires on that truck and come to Crown King next month...:D

6. Tire in the down position to unload or to lift back up onto the carrier. Using the cable to lower or raise the tire. A one man operation. Each one of the strut's can lift 200 lbs., so there is 400 lbs. of lifting capablity there.

7. Metal cap to help guide & hold the tire in place when lifting it back up onto the carrier. Next project is making the slider's. More to come on this one.

Yea, we decided to go with the 40's. In the long run it was a better idea then the 37". If we decide to go back to a 37" it will still work with the carrier. Thank's guy's for the compliment's. Winter does think these project's out to the extreme, but that's good! Just wait and see what he's got plan for the slider's:eek: We were brain storming on this the other nite. If he can do what we were thinking, it will be rad.

thanks goodness you still have your rear wiper!! LOL

this is amazing, I am still looking at the tire carrier going, what does that do? there is more fab in that tire carrier then there is in my whole shop

cant wait to see this sucker on 40's, can the front end handle 40's????????????????????

wow Paul, what a great looking tire carrier. Now run some 12 outlets on that tire carrier cause I'm still convinced it's going to have a table with an umbrella on the back of the tire and that means a great spot to whip up some margaritas!

It's funny you say that...My original plan was to put a 12v outlet where the rear wiper arm hole is. :D Just another I havn't got around to...Besides installing the Power Inverter:(

not a bad call, I'd put that on a switch to cut down on corrosion.

Ya hear that Winter! Margarita!
