I am also looking at the superguard hood deflector. Probably getting next week.

Anyone know what the difference between the supervised and aerowrap are from CGR. They look exactly the same per CGR's web site

About $18.94. :D

Anyone else purchase the AVS in channel vent visors? I'm considering a few other in channel visors, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue with the window's not closing.

So I received a response from CGR, here's what their rep said:

The only difference is the material we use. The super guard is a firm harder plastic, versue the aero wrap, it has a more flexible plastic material. The way they install and are designed are the same.

So if you're looking at the hood deflectors from CGR that's the difference between the aerowrap and Superguard.

Do not buy avs!

yes. I have been a fan of their products but I'm on here reading about how to fix my problem with them.

I just installed the front PS window and in short, the window will not go up correctly. The sensor is very sensative and the window is hitting the plastic and stopping. It took me ten minutes to get the window to close in hope that maybe when the glue sets it will work but so far, not a lot of luck.

Installed them wrong!

Well, maybe this is "our" fault that they are not working, I know that in my case, it's mine.

I just got off the line with AVS/Lund tech support on the visors stating that I had done this numerous times on previous vehicles and were having nothing but issues with these, and that I was not alone in my problems. The rep researched the instructions and immediately asked if I had put in the side flanges in the channel or between the rubber and the channel. I was perplexed. She sent the instructions.

On every other installation I have done, and this goes back about six vehicles, you cleaned the channel, pulled the tape, slapped the visor up and they'd work the same day. Not with the 2011 Ford Explorer.

The front visor, for example, does not have tape on all flanges and not all flanges go into the channel. Some go between the channel and the rubber molding.

Now, have I done this yet and can I tell you that they work great, no, but I need to back off AVS for right now and tell you I installed them wrong and that might be the issue.

I'm still waiting for WeatherTech to produce these

Mike,

Keep us updated If you try to reinstall the side vents and let us know if they work. I know I've been holding off based on the information in this thread.

AVS - In-Channel - Definitely Recommend

Plain and simple, I installed them wrong!

Arrogance will bite you every time. I've installed in-channel vents on my and my wife's last five vehicles so I assumed I knew what I was doing. Every in-channel so far went in the exact same way, no deviation. These are different!

When I got home today I lowered my windows and installed the front passenger deflector the way it was designed to be installed. I then hit the up button for the window. Guess what, it went right up without any delay, without any hiccup of any kind. Previously I had the entire unit inside the channel, however, it does not go in that way. The front and top do, the back goes to the outer side of the channel and if you look at the plastic, it is apparent that is the design.

I then went to the back window and guess what, followed the directions and the window went right up, no hesitation, no delay, no hiccup.

I can tell you all this. This is now my sixth installation of AVS In-Channel deflectors and this is the only installation which deviates from the others. Had I read the instructions and followed them, I likely wouldn't even be on this forum talking about them but I installed the wrong and rectified my error.

I plan on posting some pictures shortly but I can, without hesitation, recommend this product!

hmm i'll reorder, maybe I was the problem. IF so I will duly take the blame

Dutchman:

As much as I hate to say it likely was your install, I think there is a good chance.

Since I installed mine, per their instructions, I have had absolutely no issues with the windows even hesitating for a moment. In my particular case, and I am hoping you as well, I simply installed them wrong, having the front and backs of each visor in the actual window channel and that is not how they installed. I hope you installed them wrong so that now you can get them and have them work for you. With temps at 97 here in New Orleans and the heat index of 114, it is really nice being able to leave all four windows open for ventilation with these visors in place.

O.K. I just posted three pictures of my Exp with the in-channel deflectors in place.

When you look at them, you will see why I particularly like these. They, in my opinion, seem to follow the flow of the car and do not impede upon the color schema at all!

did you custom build that 3rd row cargo cover? pic 1 & 2 I was about to order a weathertech but just realized from your pic that it may be simpler to do a quick custom.

Did I custom build? Yes, and it is not a cover, it is a complete deck! The third row seats are removed from the car and a 3/4" plywood deck was installed in it's place. The deck is hinged so that I can gain access to the well where the 3rd row seats would go if they were folded down. It was carpeted on top as you see.
