I'm pretty sure I have 3.55 gears. But by next year I'm going to be getting 31's and I know that's not much of a big change from the 29's i have right now. But I was wondering if I got a higher gear ratio would it help out some because of the bigger tires or restore lost power and give it some kick?
I'm not familiar with gearing and I'm wanting to learn more about them.

If you do any towing or go off-roading or pack your truck with heavy loads, you're best bet would be to get some 4.10s. If not, you could go with 3.73s.

Acceleration would definitely improve and your top speed would suffer, but really not that much.

What engine do you have?

Thanks for your answer. I have an sohc. I don't do any towing at all. But when I have a full load of peole in there it's horrible for me. I usually like to accelerate around 2300 and it's pretty decent. When there's people I have to go at around 3300 or so to be at that same acceleration speed. But I rarely drive people around anymore.
