Hey mate if you're gonna buy the timing parts, don't buy them from ford australia. I got the 4USA third party kit from america for like 150 bucks, and its holding up well in my car, ahs all upgraded parts.

Haha, you work quick! Bugger it went, mine started to rattle the day after i bought my body kit. Hate it when they live up to their name, aye. To answer your question in other post, yes i put the body kit in myself, and yes it was also the PA-853 kit.

really what kind of rattles? and was it easy to install and how long it took you? by the way you mentioned that you need to modify few things, like what? i just need to know so i can prepare myself..... thanks!;)

My chains started making noise (chain hitting metal rattling) in drive, around 1,500 rpm. Turned out the guide on the front that leads to the cam has snapped clean off, thus no tension. Repaired it all before anything broke.

The body kit is fairly close but:
- You need to make up a bracket for the rear step (if you keep it)
- You need to file down the notch on the steering column where the steering extension goes to be flat, as the new extension does not have a groove for the notch and will not fit.
- The radiator lower mounts are too wide and will not fit with the radiator, i placed mine on an angle, they do not sit perfectly, but they do give it support.
- The body mount bolts are not completely right, i got nearly all of them to bolt in, but i think it was 2? or 3? i ended up drilling out the threaded side of the mount and nylon bolting it as the bolts are simply tooo long.
- The bracket for the firewall is completely wrong, i tried to bend it to shape, but in the end it just hangs, the connection to the wall is not essential (only on one side, tranny dip stick side)
- I wouldn't trust the mounts for the front bumper for a large bullbar like ours if you tow front it. I just left mine at standard height so tow points and winch when i get it still line up with chassis.

That is all the mods that come to mind, if you're interested in the process i might do a write up for 1997 cars with the 853 kit.

Looking good there, you might be surprised at how many X's there are out there, I'm on my 3rd one (1999) after playing around with a GQ for a while. Current one has these mods when I bought it -
2" body lift, with all the bumper, fan shroud etc mounts also,
electric rear diff lock (don't know which one as yet),
265/75/16 Mickey ATZ's,
rear 6 leaf suspension,
stainless steel snorkel,
rear swing-out spare carrier,
2 & 1/2" exhaust with 3" cat,
aux fuel tank,
front bash plate
I'm pretty sure it belonged to a fellow forum member in South Oz named Foxy but can't find him lately.
Up here in Hervey Bay (God's Country LOL) there are X's all over the place, it's just you don't notice them till you own one.
I used to shock all the Nissan & Tojo owners with just where I could take my previous 2 X's & am hoping to do the same with this one.
Keep the pic's rolling.........:D :australia

p.s. my signature below is my old X, haven't got around to changing it yet

Bull bar been Powder Coated (satin black)....

Lol copy cat! Pretty much the exact same bullbar as mine. I took those ****ty TJM rubber pads off though and welded tow points on. Gotta love a nice big steel bar.

Your car might get more attention if you asked a mod to move it to the "Registry" rather than in this section.
