I currently have Goodyear AT 265/70/16’s on my 1998 Sport 4x4. I wanted to hesr from anyone who has run larger tires with a similar set up. I’d like to run some larger KO2’s

Current set up
- new 4 door rear leaf springs
- rear Add a leaf
- rear shackles
- Front torsion keys
- KYB monomax shocks
- 16” rock crawler wheels

Thanks everyone

You should be able to run 32’s without trimming (much). That would basically bring you to 265/75/16.

I have 265/75/18s on mine, which is 33.5x10.5.

I had to trim a bit of the plastic trim off the fender openings, not much.

2.5" lift in the front and 3.5" lift in the back.

What’s your rear end gear? If it’s not 3.73 or 4.10 I wouldn’t go over 32s

Right now mine is the factory 3.73s.

It's good for around town and great on the highway.

But, I live in FLAT south Florida.

Towing is ok for short distances with a small trailer, like a motorcycle.

I'll be swapping 4.56 in before the summer.

You’re also a V8 with a low first.

I ran 3.73's with 33's on the 4.0 SOHC for a while. It's really not that bad. I even hit the trails in Moab with it. Granted I would love 4.56's but I can't justify dropping 2 grand into the axles. :( Best I can do is 4.10's.

Right now I am noodling around with an OHV pushing 33's on 3.73's with an M5OD in a first gen. Now that's slooow. Gotta wind that thing up to wring out enough power to get on the highway.

I have 99 Sport with a TT and Shackles and run 33x12.50-15s with some minor trimming in the front. I also run 4.5" backspacing so the tires will rub on the sway bar but I feel it limited the trimming a bit.

The original gears were 4.10s and that is fine with the 33s. My build is overland focused so I the 4.10s and 33's are a good balance for the highway.
