supercharged 5.0 true fire 98 explorer sport

hi everyone, my name is tim . i live in selkirk, manitoba, canada and as if this date that i am posting this, i am 36 years old.

i bought my sport in jan 05 from a local ford dealer. it had 111,000KM's on it. this is the second sport i have owned. it was sitting on the lot for about 8 months before i came along. i am the third owner (i was able to track down the person that traded it in, and they got it from a friend, who bought it new in 98).

i started to do a few things to it after i first got it, then i found this site, and all hell broke lose! i've never been satisfied with something the everyone else has, so i started to tinker with it even more.

plus you know you have done something right when.....

your truck (as well as corkey) wins truck of the month

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=296023

is the feature truck on the fun hump day radio show (starts roughly around the 30 min mark)

http://explorerforum.podbean.com/2011/03/23/19-vroom-zoomboom/

and you drive 26 hours ONE WAY to the carlisle all ford nationals in june 2010 and 2011, and grab second place in the s.u.v. all category!

scan00012.jpg

then in 2014 you go back to the same show you have been to 5 years in a row (nothing by most, but its one hell of a long drive) and take first!

no joke either. i have had one of those V.I.U. trucks follow me once. the pucker factor was 11 on a scale of 10!
another little funny story on the bruising evil thing today. i had her nice and clean when i went to MPI, but on the drive there, hit rain (and i hate driving in rain with it now, makes her too dirty). went back the the seen of the crime (carwash), and bumped into one of my old neighbors. was talking to him, and showing him what happened, when some random guy walks up and says (in a very polite manor)
"oh, hey your the guy that hit the door frame last week"
me "um, yea how did you know that?" thinking he was here when it happened.
"i saw it on the surveillance footage. i am soooo sorry about that. i wanted to come and tell you that in person.
me "?!?!?!?!"
"i own the carwash"
me saying this in my mind "oh crap, this guy is going to **** rape me for screwing up his door track, and weather strip, and will prob take me to court"
"i am really sorry that happened. i am glad to know that you still come back to use my carwash"
me, once again saying this in my mind "ok, wtf just happened"
me "your sorry? im the guy that backed into your door! i should be saying sorry to you!"
"well, i saw your expression on the footage. you didnt look happy! if you have any problems what so ever while your here, PLEASE call me, so i can help you take care of them." and points to a number on the wall.
thought that was funny the owner of the place said sorry to me, when i was the guy that did damage to my truck, and his carwash! lol. he was pretty cool with everything however.

Sounds like a nice guy. Its always great to hear storys about nice people. It halps make up for the A$$'$ out there.

Dono is Right! That is an awesome story (not the damage to Evil) but the fact that the owner is that forgiving and sincere about it. Always nice to hear about good people stories. You Great White peeps seem way way more laid back than us here in the Stressed States!! Went to zoo recently, a couple came up to us and asked if we had dropped our camera. My immediate knee jerk reaction was what do they want.... They didnt want anything, except to return our camera. Felt really bad thinking that and extremely appreciative they found it and found us!!

I got Off topic, but really great to hear the owner of the carwash was that sympathetic to you and not looking for recompense!

Eh (now lets play Beer Hunter eh?)

The VIU is a pain in the a55

but,,

It's nice to be from Ontario and thumb my nose at them when they pulled me over for my 35's and no mudflaps,, i told him the laws in Ontario were different, i was from there and passed, so i will be on my way, thanks buhbye,,,

but i feel for you,, sucks that they are such jerks,,

Wow, I just 3/4 read, 1/4 skimmed through this and I am in awe. Your explorer is amazing, an the only thing between me in actually seeing beautiful automobile is a 1200 mile, 19 hour drive. Oh I mean 1900 km, 19 hour drive.

if it means anything to you, i have made it to Chesterton, In. (if you know where that is) from my door in 17 hours by myself twice.

That's north, nah not that much just a very nice car that has come a long way, and I can guess that the gate will be repaired soon. And I meet a similar shop owner today. He was happy to let me use his tools in order to get the new to me 2 inch hitch off of another explorer

well, Dono called it. i just got off the phone with the body shop. evil now has a new gate coming. they had 3 or 4 gates come in that one issue or another with them, either it had rust on it, or other damage. even more of a surprise is that the one they have coming wont have a hole for the wiper (must be a gate for a 01-03 sport) so i wont have to weld the hole over. the only bad news is it is coming from fords nos depo in the us, so its going to take a few weeks, but hey, i will have a new rust free gate.

Excellent, and the holes are missing too. The newer hatch began in 2003, with the wiper on the glass.

i stand corrected! i had two 01's and swore the wiper was in the glass.

Nice!
Evil's getting its rear wiper shaved off!
Great news.

Nice!!

dropped evil off to the body shop thats doing the work on evil today. was happy to see a bfn gate there as well. i never knew they (ford) made a gate that didnt have any holes in it with the exception of the button for the rear glass. learn something new every day i guess. also asked kevin his thoughts on putting a tramp stamp on it. truth be known, now looking at the gate, i am not sure how that will look. on the fence with that one, so i told kevin, if he could think of something that will look good on it, do it. if not leave it alone. i also told them there is no rush to get it done. so if its back in a month (which i doubt) so be it.

IMG_1490.jpg

looks great! If you were to put a poll on having a tramp stamp or not. I vote none, leave it clean. Its like a split personality truck, business up front, clean cut in the back. Someone may pull up behind you then beside you and say WHOA after they see the flames on the front.

had to go to the bodyshop today, they needed the hardware from the original back glass. new one didnt have it. was also surprised to see they had the new gate on, and pan painted. they are not done with it yet, they need to put the new glass in, and the wing back on (looks funny now with out the wing on).

gate8.jpg

also, no tramp stamp either. kevin told me in his mind, it would look funny with one on the back for the simple matter that it would be too wide, but not tail enough. i do agree, but i wish i could think of something to do on the back. oh well, at least the wiper is no longer there.

A thing of beauti!

now to finally let the cat out of the bag

seems for the last few years, evils been a spoiled truck at Christmas.

I HAS SUPERCHARGER!

xcharger_Medium_.jpg

bought off one of the members here. one day i just randomly clicked on the site to new posts, and there it was! the thread i have been waiting for - For Sale Explorer Express Supercharger 5.0 FOR SALE. i pm'd, emailed, AND called! this was not slipping out of my hands. mrboostman was selling his kit, because he went to a m112. the down side however, parts were missing because he used some of the kit on his new set up. i figured i would make, or figure out what parts it needed to be complete again. then i said to myself, "self, i wounder if explorer express still has any brackets kicking around". called dave there, and he did. now listen up for all other 5L guys. they have ALL brackets, and what not to make a few kits still! the reason why he isnt advertising them is that eaton does not sell a new m90 super charger. so if you can find one used, you still can make this kit as of this date! also found in the stocking are ford racing 42lb injectors, and a lightning 90mm maf, and walbro 255 lph fuel pump. i have to take a inventory of what bolts i will need first, but now i am dying to get this on evil, and listen to her whine!
