QUOTE=A.J.C.;3275895]I just purchased my first Explorer yesterday. 2000 Limited 4.0SOHC 2wd. 180,000 miles. Picked it up for $1200. It was a good deal I think.

Very good deal specially for being a limited.

Man, I have not seen that color before. Nice deal!

Yeah, at first I wasn't too thrilled with the color because initially I thought it was purple. After buying it and washing/waxing it, the color has grown on me. Its a very dark maroon color. I haven't seen a Limited in this color but have seen an Eddie Bower edition with the two tone color scheme. The Eddie Bower edition looks better in my opinion but for the price I paid, I can live with it. Here is a picture with the new FSU plate. Hopefully there are a few Noles fans on this forum or I'm in trouble. Now I just have to add my tasteful mods. More to come...

I'll try not to bore you all with how I came to acquire this Explorer but those who are interested, I will tell my story. I purchased a $75 Snapper riding mower which supposedly didn't run. Put a new battery in it and fired right up. I found a guy on craigslist who needed a riding mower and had a 96 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 5 speed for trade. After making the trade, I put a new battery in the Cherokee and it fired right up. Talk about lucky... I drove it for 6 months but hated the harsh ride and road noise. I decided to post it for sale on craigslist for $1700 to see if it would sell. I have never sold a vehicle quicker. In 12 hours it was gone and I stumbled upon this Explorer. My father had purchased a 93' Explorer Limited new and drove it for 17 years before trading it in for the cash for clunkers deal. To this day, I still wish I had that Explorer. It only had 150k miles and still ran like new. So once I found this Explorer, I was sold . I paid $1200 but have already put in $500 in maintenance which is expected for a vehicle this old. All in all, I love the Explorer. Ford made a great product and is totally an upgrade from the Cherokee. Hopefully it gets me through college :)

Here is a pic of the god awful cherokee

I had a 89' Cherokee and loved it. It almost made it to 500K before one of the grandkids flipped it. You're right about the Jeep being a distant 3rd to the Explorer though (S-10 Blazer a distant 2nd.). Great deal on your LTD, always loved those factory wheels. Does yours have the memory seats? I wish mine did. Takes me a day to get the driver's seat right after the wife has driven it.

I'm not trying hate on the Cherokee too bad. I have owned two and they are fine for around town driving. The one in the picture has 213k miles and still ran pretty good.

I do have the memory seat which will be helpful. There is nothing worse than getting the seat in the perfect position and then loaning the vehicle to someone who seems to push the seat buttons like they are scrambling a rubik's cube haha.

I'm a little slow here but this is my girl. 1998 Explorer, Eddie Bauer
