supercharged 5.0 true fire 98 explorer sport

i called lowdollar racing today to ask how i can test their sensors to see if i had a bad one. long story short, they are sending a map and 0-100 psi sensor out free of charge in the chance i have a bad one. even eating the shipping as well. hows that for for customer service as well as standing behind your product!

new info
MUST ROTATE CRANK BALANCER twice to get correct location for cam synchro
Check this diagram I made to help
crank timing how to 09242022.jpg

It must be dropped in at the 185 degree BTDC mark on the balancer BUT ALSO on the BTDC stroke of the crank
I had it stabbed on the after top dead center stroke.
I am updating all threads

Basically at the end of the day the signal from our cam synchro to let the Holley know cyl 1 is coming around
Must occur 185 degrees before tdc on compression stroke
So you can see from the diagram how that is done
Phew I’m exhausted

Thank the dudes on the classic broncos forum for taking me to school

so i threw in the towel today

my brain for what ever reason is scrambled from looking at wire diagrams, i took the coil harness to a buddy of mine on the weekend to get him to make the changes. well, he screwed it up more then i did (cant blame him, he didnt do worse then i did). while talking to jamie on the phone, he mentioned something like "if i had it here, i would be able to fix it in no time flat" as i start to think, a shop would charge more then a 100 a hour to fix it, and who knows how long, or if i could find a place to take it to, so it got boxed up and sent out to jamie. hopefully it gets to him tomorrow, and back here for the weekend. just want it to start and run so i dont have to store it away from my control.

I shall fix and return as quickly as possible!!

Seems like someone should be building these harnesses

Seems like someone should be building these harnesses
i was thinking the same thing, the problem would be how much of a demand would there be?

and whoot! it looks like its a hour or 2 away from him now.

jamie messaged me this morning. his word, the wiring is screwed up lol. and not one wire was correct. in a way this doesnt surprise me at all. that was the nail biter to make in my opinion. hopefully he can post all my screw ups so we can all learn from it.

thanks again jamie for fixing it.

This is why the explorerforum is more gooder than any other forums
;)

Yes the coil pack wiring was not correct! It is fixed now and is headed back North to Canada
This is a snowball effect, if one wire is off then it causes, another and another.......
I'm hoping the truck fires right off with these corrections

Hang in there Tim this stuff is NOT EASY!!!!!!!!!

We must think of this waste fire system as just 4 coils
Each coil fires for two cylinders
If the wiring to those coils is not correct then you will be firing the spark all over the place and it will never run

I chopped up the harness Tim sent me being careful not to lose any length
I carefully labeled each cylinder feed wire from the holley harness and then did the combinations so they match the combos ford sets from the factory
Harness was shipped back today he should have it Friday! Fingers crossed
Harness now matches my updated PDF files of the terminator to ford wiring diagram
it also matches the ford factory wiring at the coil packs
This would make troubleshooting much easier if needed

so this little harness has travelled around 2000 miles in the last 4 days.

waited and waited for the fed ex guy to show up so i could put it back on and see what would happen.
of course evil wouldnt be evil without throwing some type of curve ball at me.

noticed that just as i was about to plug it in, lucky for me i have spares kicking around, or a bunch of them in trucks at work if it came to it.
plugged everything back in, one connector is a little tight so later on i will have to add to it (no biggie and jamie had to do this blind not knowing how much spare wire there was).
moment of truth. all plugged in and ready to start, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand..........

this truck has pissed me off to no end. it didnt have a cam error the last time, so it looks like i have timed it wrong or something. at the moment dono was fixing my laptop and my son is going to pick it up today. i will have to wait until tomorrow and turn the cam sensor off in the software and see if it will start.
its also a good thing that you overnighted this to me jamie. i didnt know until last night that there is no delivery tomorrow for fed ex, and more them likely wouldnt have this until monday. looks like i have to play around with this thing more....yay...

So the #6 red led is the cam sync signal? Your getting closer.

Might not be of help, but if any sensor wiring was flip flopped during the initial troubleshooting, it might want to be flip flopped back.

Number six is the crank sensor not cam

Sensor Maybe too far away from balancer?

Ground wire goes to cpu ground
Signal wire goes to crank sensor signal
Power goes to pin b20 clean 12v power

Setup in software for hall effect sensor

Oh man she’s getting close! I had a red light like 15 times and then vrooooom

stand corrected, crank sensor......which is worse. i have my laptop back, thanks don! and will have to look at the settings in the morning. i know i was messing around with stuff seeing if something would make it fire off, and will have to look at what i changed.
