Need to do some brakes/shocks work
So, while up north hunting (well, more like on the way up there), I noticed that I had some cupping of the inside edge of my front tires. It looks like it has been going on for a while, but I never noticed it before because I do mostly city driving, thus the vibration and noise aren't prevalent...- Kelvarr

New to Forum
Hi, I just joined the forum and really like reading the posts and the tips for maintenance on the Explorer. I have owned Ford 4x4 vehicles for about 10 years and have enjoyed them all. All cars have quirks and Ford is no different. I have meticulously maintained my 05 Exlorer since I...- planejames

Alrighty so I was looking around the site to try and find an answer to my problem but I haven't found one. :( I bought Rancho 5000's from Summit Racing. My stock OEM ones have never been replaced and since I've lifted the Explorer they were fully extended; needed new ones. Anyways, I...- thatoneguy

Rancho Suspension Question
I'm looking into getting Rancho RS 5000's for my 97 AWD v8 EB. Their site gives me 2 options, one for a 1-2.5" lift and one for stock height. If i'm doing a 1.5"- 2" WAR-153 shackle and tt lift will the stock height rancho shock absorbers still work without issues? I'd like to order them soon...- Mrlee75

Need to choose new shocks!
I got a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT, 4.0L OHV 4wd. The shocks have gone kaput and I need to choose some new ones for all four corners. Now the extent of my off-roading is about 50% and consists of trails for hunting, gravel/mud roads for work, and the occasional fire-break on the spine of a mountain...- bshagopian

Installing shocks - 2wd Sport
Everyone talks about compressing their shocks to get them in, but my KYB GR-2's that I am told match my model (96 sport 2wd 4.0) are too short. I have to jack up the A-arm and the shock is still fully extended. I'm half tempted to attach the lower bolts and nuts then do the top...- baez23

Shock Recommendation?
Hey guys, looking for some opinions here.. It's time to replace the shocks on my 2000. Handling and ride quality have been steadily declining and the D/S rear looks like it's leaking, so I know where some of my tax return is going this year. I will also probably replace the '5th shock' in...- 11lariat

Hey guys, first post! I've searched all over and don't seem to find anything similar. I had my buddy replace the lower ball joints, upper control arms, and all 4 new Monroe Sensatrack shocks. Body roll is waaaay reduced, which I really like. Lots more control. Ride is harsher than I...- jezriak

Tie rods scraping body panel underneath feet after Bilstein shock upgrade.
Proud inheritor of 98 Explorer XLT 4x4 V6 pushrod. Just had the shocks replaced with a nice set of Bilstein Heavy Duties.
