Well i got to talking to Nissanboy on here one night and was talking about wanting a tire carrier for his explorer and i told him i'd make him one. This is made from 1-1/4" sch 80 .191" wall pipe. We choose sch 80 over sch 40 because he wants to put a winch behind it one day, so we figured that the 80 would do the job nicely. He is also planning on a bigger tire then a 35" in the future so it's high enough to be out of the way of a winch. Here is the almost finished product:
This angle is wierd cause it's leaned back against my wheel.
Chad has a 3" body lift so he wanted this one set up higher then a normal bumper would be. This mounts should be plenty strong enough to handle a winch.
Things left to do are weld on a lever action latch which will be in on monday, add a gusset to the main swing arm to the hinge, and add some wheel studs.
So what do you think?
