aussie locker, EF sponsor

other then what fenderguy said, i havent heard any negitive feedback about the AussieLockers.

Ive actually heard their operation is quieter then Powertrax. If i ever go that route, AussieLocker would be my choice.

We were unaware of any problems with the locker owned by Froader. The Aussie Locker has a 2 year warranty and so far we have had one warranty failure of material or workmanship out of over 2,000 lockers in the USA. Most issues our tech consultants run across fall into axle gear to shaft and innercam spacing issues on install. We certainly cannot solve problems unless we know about them and we even answer technical questions on Saturdays and Sundays. We would encourage any Aussie Locker owner that is having any issues with our product to contact us at any time. And if we do have a warrany issue we do not ask how big your tires are, or what horsepower your motor is. The Aussie Locker has a well deserved reputation for reliability and smoothness of operation according to our customers, and if there is an exception to that experience then we need to know about it so we can respond. Contact us at customerservice@offroadlockers.com or direct to the owner at bill@offroadlockers.com
I hope you don't think I'm ripping on your product in any way. I know quite a few people with it and are very happy. I even said above that I hope my problem doesn't detour (again sp?) people from buying your product and that I'm probably 1 out of who knows how many are out there. I will be contacting you though to see about the warranty process.

Aussie Locker

No issue with your comments Froader. It is just that if we do not know about a problem we cannot solve it, so I do encourage you to contact us and hopefully we can sort out the issue quickly. If we have a defective part then we will certainly respond very quickly. I believe that there was a comment on the tension of the springs. The springs have a very specific compression for proper locker operation. One of the reasons for the smoother operation of the Aussie Locker is that our design enabled us to design a spring that did not need "brute force" to make the locker work properly.

I'm guessing they are now an EF sponsor? If they are, do we get a discount with them if we say we are buying from explroerforum?
Can you answer this question for us, AussieLocker?

Hell, RangerX does better than most with an L/S in both front and rear.

Aussie Locker Programs

At this time we do not have any promotional programs for the BBS groups we belong to. We do not like to compete with our few dealers and any special pricing from the manufacturer or exclusive distributor puts a strain on those kind of relationships. If we do come up with a program we will certainly post it here. One special we do that does not impact our dealers is for anyone who has a Ford 8.8 with the 3/4" cross shaft (usually 83 to 86 vintage diff) the price of the XD41031 Aussie Locker is $ 199.99 plus S&H. This is an inventory reduction sale and does not affect our dealers.

After reading this post and a few others, I think I'm gonna order an Aussie locker this month. Thanks for the information AussieLocker

Yea I have become really interested in it too, however my X is a daily driver. How do these lockers peform on the street, and how do they peform on the highway? I do moderate 4 wheeling. Would you guys suggest this locker for someone who drives the x a lot around town and on the highways and not a hardcore 4 wheeler?

I've had a true locker in the rear of my old explorer as my daily driver/hard core off roader for 3 years and 15K miles a year. It has some characteristics that you'll need to get used to, but it's not a problem. Carefull driving in the rain, not sure how much rain you see in Flagstaff though. You'll wear your rear tires a little faster as well since going around turns on the gas the inside tire will keep up with the outside tire and chirp. You'll be amazed at the difference in performance off road though. I'd say go for it.

Consider locking the front. Won't affect street driving, and still kicks ass on the trail. :D

Yea I head that locking the front makes you turn horrible when you wheel and puts a lot of pressure on your hubs.

A rear locker in the snow is also fun :D makes doing doughnuts in a parking lot much easier. One down side though is in the snow / ice if you are on a side hill the vechicle will want to slide down the hill more then before. In my old ranger I ran a lock right for many years and then a full case detroit. Between the two I probably put over 100,000 miles on it and it worked for me. The only reason why I switched from the lockright to detroit was cause I found an axle with the detroit and the gears I needed for cheaper then I could buy gears for. Otherwise I would have kept the lockright. I am in need of a locker for the dana 44 I plan to swap into my truck here in the next few weeks and right now I am leaning towards an aussie.

Hey Colin,
I thought Mark put a E-Z locker in there and not an Aussie locker...am I wrong?

awesome that aussie is sponcer for explorer forum. ok is the aussie available for our 8.8 rear axle with open carrier 31 spline.

and how about for the dana 35 front axle. fill me in thanks

if it's not available it no slips front and rear

No need for a discount, the prices are already good on their lockers. I don't know the current status of the IFS d35 version, but I do know that Bill was eager to get a front diff a while back to get it done.
