Aussie Locker finally going in

man doesnt sound like you're having much luck :(

But before you completely replace the axle, take a few hours off and do something else. Then come back and stare at the differential for half an hour and I'm sure you can think of another way to solve this problem.

About a 1/2 inch of the center pin is still on the gears, but the rest of it is in the back of the housing with no way to get to it. The rear end wont turn and there is no way to get that center pin out. i was gonna take off the driveshaft and see if i could get to it from there but i still wont be able too.

Does said 'buddy' have a black eye or a swollen face yet? Someone on here has to have a rear end for you. Actually pm RangerX. I'm not sure if he has anything, but it's worth a try.

Said "buddy" almost got shot lol. I wont talk to him again for a very very long time. Pedstang has a complete 8.8 with tracloc and 4.10's for 400 plus shipping so im gonna try to get that one. I needed to regear from my 3.27's anyway, but what a way to have to do it. Once the old one is out i might cut it apart to salvage the locker, im sure there is nothing wrong with it....I wont try to use it again but im sure someone else might want too, if its on good shape that is.

so no truckhaven for me next weekend, i was looking forward to it too...

i already tried to get money for it, his broke a** has no money and even if he did he wouldnt give me anything. The wife is pissed off to no end right now lol. we were supposed to go on a cruise for our anniversary on the 17th and now i have to use some of that money to get a new rear end. How good is the LS from the factory for offroading??? i wanted the locker for that reason but im not even gonna try that route myself again.

He decided to use a hammer and pound the center pin in and force it through ?

thats just wrong.

someone needs to :shoot:

Option: Drill the differential directly where the pin is pointing to with a small drill bit .. maybe 1/8".. and keep working your way up to about a 1/4" drill bit. You should then be able to stick a screw driver in there and drive the pin out. You can then either put some JB-Weld on the hole, or get some one to weld it.

thats what i figured. I wont try to install it myself though lol...Ive done many things both performace and maintenance on cars over the last 15 years and have never had bad luck like this on a project.
And this was supposed to be an EASY afternoon project lol.

Izwack. i might try that. Thanks. I might just end up replacing the rear end anways, almost just seems easier at this point

I needed to step up the gears with the 32's anyway.

chrisis thanks for that link, i need axles too though i wont be able to get mine out. Ive been looking arond it almost seems as if the one on here for 400$ which is complete disc to disc is a good deal.

Froader: thanks i will keep an eye out for that, ive been wanting to come on a run with you guys for some time now but ive been really busy, and now this happens lol. i wont be able to hang too much out there with you guys though with my lowly 2wd, but id love to ride along...

Do you happen to know anybody with a welder? If you do have them weld on a small bolt then go buy yourself a slide hammer at your local auto parts store and hopefully you can pull that pin back out.

Or, call up Currie and tell them the situation...you'll have to bring them the axle out of the vehicle though.

i might be able to get you an 8.8 fo free but its from a 92...drum and 3.27's

search around on ebay or craigslist. 400 seems a lot for an 8.8. Sorry to hear about all your troubles wih the locker install.

well i went back out and started looking at it again. I now noticed he took a few teeth off the main gear. I know that will have to be replaced now and i cannot setup gears. I just purchased the 8.8 from ped5stang on this board. 4.10's truloc, low miles, ad its a complete disc to disc replacement with everything i need. I started pricing things and with new axles and everthing else 400$ isnt really that bad. Plus the 4.10's are alot better with my 32's than the 3.27's i had.

And i found a way to make the so called "buddy" pay for this. I have a turbo kit for an acura intergra gsr in my garage that is his...or well was his. its mine now and im selling it to pay for the damage he did to me explorer.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice through this nightmare of a job lol. Ill stick to turbocharging imports any day lmao.....

The only reason i am jumping on this one for 400$ is the gearing. I had open 3.27's which were horrible with the 31's i had and even worse with the 32's i have now. I priced getting regeared around here and it ran 650 to 800$. So the 550 shipped to my door for a whole new rear end with a limited slip really isnt that bad considering the cost new gears would have ran me.

if you have a torch, yes
