Dissociated from politics and corporate economics, electrically-powered vehicles unarguably hold certain very distinct advantages in certain use cases. That's why a lot of construction and special-use vehicles actually move under electrical power, and only use a large ICE to generate power for them. When the power starts at the wheel, you have next to no energy wasted in transfer through six layers of drivetrain before it gets to the ground. It can also be controlled with much more precision than simply rotation speed. The computer also doesn't have to wait for all of those steps in order to adjust for traction control and other things - since the pedal tells the computer what to do and then the motors on the wheels just do it immediately, the electronics have a whole lot less back-and-forth communications before compensation can be made.

It may not be the future for every use case, but I hope electric cars can be made into a sustainable industry the same as petroleum-reliant cars. It would be a shame if this kind of technology fades away as it has before.

E bikes for the win
Electric atv and electric snowmobile… that’s my future. Cruising through the woods on a snowmachine that is virtually silent so many advantages to that (experience the nature)

E bikes. As a kid I was limited to how far I could pedal now these things will do 80

Possibly an electric personal flying drone… would probably be cheaper then building / fixing this 2 mile road over and over

My whole shop and home is off grid
Sun powered or if not enough sun I generate it.
It’s a very rewarding way to live

An electric atv or bike would be perfect for us here, I have a 3 mile commute to the end of the road everytime we leave and it’s only 9 miles to town after that
Solar powered re charge when it gets back to the shop

Im an elevator guy so I’ve been up on the power and torque of electric motors for many years :) elevators are regenerative, and use ai … electric vehicles have their place! But the grid must be up for supporting it and sustainable otherwise we are just blowing smoke up each others wazoos

In China they have the nikola” electric vehicles where when the battery is down you stop at quick e lube and they swap the battery for a charged one.

When I can put a charged battery in a backpack and then go from the house on an electric atv … no fuel spent recharged by the sun/wind/hydro well… I am looking forward to that and the technology is already here
We just need better and better battery tech to store all the power

All it takes is one trip to a Costco gas pump on Friday afternoon, to realize,

We're gonna need a lot of chargers.

Ok this is getting weird.

This car has rear seats that slide forward rear , and recline like front seats. The center console slides also, independent from seats.
Slid console back forward, bottom of it caught on the carpeted floor mat provided by dealer. Ok, that's broken now.
No way that console will work with that mat.
Looked like it should clip back together easy enough, so, in true diy style I pushed the dealer button on nav screen, and, all by myself drove to the dealer.
Upon arrival , Immediately, once again I was surrounded by techs eager to know why I was there.
3 dudes dived right in, one walked away carrying the mats, other 2 talked, got out to the tools, snap snap together, and my car drove away.

I chased the carpet mat guy down to ask wtf?

" Filling up your tank( charger). They gave you the wrong mats. I have to order them . I'll call you when they come in.. here is a 20.00 Wendy's coupon for your trouble"

25 minutes after arriving, I left with 90% charge, fixed car, and free snack.

I " think" I'm a Ford guy but Ford has some catching up to do customer loyalty wise.

Our '20 ST just got another recall notice. It has to go to the dealer to see if the bezel that surrounds the second row fold down switch can interfere with the switch. It says "This shouldn't take more than a half a day unless there are scheduling issues". This is something that should be looked at in the service driveway by the service writer. There is no reason that a mechanic has to eyeball the bezel. I hate wasting time. It's an hour round trip to the dealership, and of course they will not provide a loaner.

BTW, I'm still thinking about driving your EV. It really was a trip! Thanks for the opportunity.:burnout:

I'll admit I'd like to cruise in it, too.

Well then ya gotta do what ya gotta do huh?
I guess so. I'll find something that gets me through there with plenty of time to stop.
