Yeah, it is all powder. I used chrome for the base, Mercury blue, and 10% gloss clear coat. I was trying for the new ford blue effect with what I had on hand, because the blue oval ford powder is very expensive, I would have had to spend at least 60.00 to get some here and also had to wait. I've already spent over 600.00 in new parts recently so I needed to cut somewhere.
Yeah, don't worry about the small amount of time it takes to swap pans out. Unless your wanting a clean coated pan, I wouldn't worry.
my opinion (then again, this is what kinda egged you on to change the motor in the first place) is not to worry about it. unless you have the message center in it, you wont need it. as long as the pan on the "new" motor isnt rusted or rotted, use it. besides, from what i have heard, the sensors start to leak/drip over time anyway.
Also today I pulled the lower intake off Betty's bad engine, and cleaned it up. And of course I powdercoated it.
