Betty's "I want to be a mule" progress log thread

I typed up a how-to on using the V6 condenser brackets a year and a half ago, but never posted it. I was also short on pics because it was dark, and you need 2 hands.

Drove a 150 mile round trip, mostly 60-65 mph, with front skid and roof rack removed. Used scangauge and mounty trip computer both, calculated 16.4 mpg avg with scangauge, 16.2 avg trip computer oin info center. Pretty close. Better than 14.6 with those items.
Now I'm pretty sure the winch protect bar on front bumper is not a good thing for economy. I also think 235 tires tucked under fenders, would do better than 10.5s that stick out about 1/2 " past fenders.

So, ol gal has been doing good then decided , during a heat wave, to start making shweatty balls.

Upon filling the AC I noticed the fill valve was releasing pressure when I opened the cap. A couple of full release squirts seemed to seal the valve so I refilled the system and made Betty drip water again. Ahhhh, no more damp underclothing. Nice!!!

Then I went after the intermittent starter issue she recently decided to share with me.

Found the main power lug on the starter was a bit loose. 1/4 turn to tight loose. Hmm, could be that.

Replaced and cleaned lugs of the starter relay. Cleaned and oxlubed the battery posts.

Got ramps out for wannabe flex shot, because I really need to get out.....

And then.....

I zoom in on picture. Wtf? Cooling fan hanging out "look at me haha I should be hiding,,"

Gravels and fudges while a scour the garage like I'd trade my kingdom for 2 lousy black zip ties.

I got rid of the winch in front of my bronco also
My coolant temps went down and mpg went up. No biggie I mean I drive a v8 bronco ii on 35s not exactly a mpg rig lol

I hardly ever use a front mounted winch unless it is to pull somebody else back onto the trail
So I decided to just carry a winch in. A cradle and wire my truck so it can be installed in the front or rear receiver… works so much better. Now I just carry the winch in the cargo area until needed. Winching from the back is nice because the hatch will protect you from rain while working the winch :)

Good job

I don’t see a fan shroud picture to zoom in on? I’m missing something

It's dangling there between the light bar and skid plate. I have 2 cooling fans blowing thru a 10 cylinder Ford trans cooler mod. Zip tied in place.

Hahahaha I was looking for a factory fan or shroud

Silly fan get back in your home!

Dont let your fan dangle in the dirt! Betty is looking marvelous and telling you in her way to drive her.
