Big tires vs standard wheels

Looking for help in selecting the largest tire I can put on my stock 2010 Explorer XLT with the standard 17" x7.5 wheels. They came with the 245/65-17 tires and I would like to go with the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 in the 275/70-17 size but not sure it will clear everything.
What is the biggest tire anyone else has used on the stock wheels?

Just lift it then get bigger tires!

You can run 265/70/17 but will likely get rubbing when turning unless you lift it a little. Install some truxxxx spacers and that won't be a problem. Any bigger than that and you'll rub, lifted or not.

I just put that same tire and "size" (265/75/16) on my 2010 with a 1.25" spacer up front, and it looks great.
