i've read your whole registry...one of my favorite explorers on the site!

hope ya get it back on the road soon!

well, i guess it was either time , or the cold finally got to it,

seems i may have a blown head gasket, it ran rough and the temp went to the top of the gauge , so i checked the coolant , it was down quite a bit, so i checked the oil, ,
pulled out the dipstick and there it was all covered in a chocolate like coating,

details to follow,,

Post 153 did it. Haven't you learned this yet?

Good luck Pete. Looking at the cans of V8 yet?

Dang. I would have thought the trans or the t-case would have gone well before the engine did. Bummer.

This is just me Pete, but I would seriously think of getting a different rig with lower miles, less rust, and swap your bolt on mods over, and start new. It was fun while it lasted, but once Cancer has a hold of something, it is usually all downhill from there. :(

yep, i think it's time i went to the v8 as well,
the 6 was kind of nice, but no towing and lack of power with the big tires have done it,

a low rust will be a must, and i guess a winter driver will be good too,

looking at a Honda CRX for highway trips, it's a low miler with no rust,,
but k, onto some pics,,

this is supposed to be the oil, from the pan,, not good looking at all ,,

coming soon,,

1999 XLS, no name yet, so no registry,
but when it gets here and driveable, it will earn a name, and a registry,,

Again congrats on the nice buy, what's it need? Anything you know of?

it may need a water pump and a rad, and a little bit of rust work, but other than that, all good ,

Vroomzoomboom went and looked it over, he got it for me,
so,

this one is a good starter, , the previous, owner would not know what all is going to be done to this thing,,

i am going to do a few things to this one, that i didn't do to the other,,

That's cool, can't wait to see it transform...

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

well i gave them a little bit of whats going to happen with. but when his wife said that truck was her baby, i kinda shut up........quickly to.......

she would be shocked, is all i have to say,,

i came up with a plan fort this Roller rig, and than things did change,,
My mom has a 4.0 aerostar, she hit a deer with it and the motor was still good,

i looked the engine all over and it is exactly the same as the one that let go in this rig, soooo ,,,
i am thinking of buying it back from the insurance company and using the engine here, it has a lot less miles on it and ran pretty good, ,
In fact good enough that it got 22 mpg on a 2 way trip to Kenora,, around 60 miles each way,,
when i get to the engine change i will post pics,,
