Crozet, VA 10th anniversary run chat thread

Guys, after all the drama getting this run scheduled, I have now found out that a summer church youth camp that I committed long ago to be a speaker and counselor at is scheduled for this exact same time

I am going to regretfully be missing this run. There's nothing I can do about it, and I wish greatly I could participate, but I cannot.

I people understand that the reason Crozet was chosen is because of the ammenities. Crozet is a rock crawling park, however the GWNF is close and offers offroading oppertunities for any level of experience and stock vehicles. There are many hotels within 15-minutes ride. All of Charlletsville is within 20-minutes drive, that includes shopping, restaurants, bars ect. It is close to I 64 and 81. I hope east coast people understand that this is going to be a very good experience. It would be nice for additional people to sigh up, so we dont look like a bunch or east coast burn outs.

The west coast run stopped accepting participants at 50. It would sure be nice to see the east coast do something like that.

I've put of making reservations long enough, gotta get it done this week. I knows there's been a little talk in here about hotels and mainly Holiday Inn. Who has already made reservations, where, and what are the prices looking like? If the people down south with me are going to try to caravan up there, it would make since for us to be going the same place, or at least the same city, Charlottesville or Waynesboro?

I agree with Larry. I've been putting hotel reservations on hold long enough as well. I don't know where anyone is staying, so someone make a suggestion.

As far as the caravan is concerned, we should probably start making some kinda plans for that as well. I 'm wanting to drive up on Thursday so we'll have enough time to make it and find everything. We should probably start deciding on where we need to meet each other and times and exchange cell numbers. How many guys are coming up from GA or lower states?

I'm coming from SC of course, but I'm not sure if I'll be leaving from Columbia area or from Clemson area...either way I'll be on I-77 around Charlotte. Should we consider meeting at a rest stop or similar area around Charlotte?

Also, my summer job will decide whether I can leave on Thursday or Friday. I was thinking Friday after a half day of work, but I won't know for sure for a few weeks.

Several people have inquired about wheeling their stock vehicles at Crozet. A few have had some hesitation regarding getting damage done to their vehicles. Since Stony Run and other trails in the GW and other National forest are very close to Crozet that may be the best alternative for those wishing to wheel their rigs but don't want any damage. Does anyone from VA wanna guide at GWNF if we decide to run there also?

You're not fooling anyone...You wheel all rigs all the time...you then hustle back to the bat cave and repair any damage which keeps that $$$$ black looking so sweet...
