I think for 4r55e you have to swap tailshafts can be done but you have to do some disassembly and reassembly
Yeah but this is a 5r55e, which from what I can find from a couple others seems to be more of a solid rebuild in order to make it work, and that aint worth the effort. But if I can, and if it's still there when I have the money, I'm going to grab it either way, and use it in the mazda, maybe, I hate to lose the manual, but the auto is better for a daily, besides, I could always throw a manual back in one day.I think for 4r55e you have to swap tailshafts can be done but you have to do some disassembly and reassembly
Sorry I meant 5r55e. Internally the 4/5r55es are the same I think just the control engagies 1st and OD to make a false 2nd on the 5 speed. Yes to change tailhousings it takes some time but can be done!Yeah but this is a 5r55e, which from what I can find from a couple others seems to be more of a solid rebuild in order to make it work, and that aint worth the effort. If it genuinely means tearing apart the whole transmission to do so, I'm not going to bother, I've got a good 4wd tranny in the X already, I'll just touch it up some while everything is being swapped around and fixed anyway. Then I'll keep the 2wd 5r55e for the mazda with either a 4.0 sohc or 5.0 ohv swap.Sorry I meant 5r55e. Do you still have the hatch weather stripping? I'd be willing to pay a good amount for itI didn't find anything at all when I was hunting those kinds of new parts 5-10 years back. I managed one hatch weather strip in the whole country, but I'd like to have found at least one more. Those kind of obsolete parts are more trouble with older vehicles, than body parts or drivetrain etc.

Check the local junkyards, not a guarantee but I found one out there that looked to be good, haven't installed it though. Sometimes ya get lucky, otherwise yeah, like @CDW6212R said, gotta talk to some companiesDo you still have the hatch weather stripping? I'd be willing to pay a good amount for it
Not much in the way of cheap and easy power/economy gains. Intake and exhaust is the most gain for the $ spent.Alright, one final parts list request. I want all suggestions for making it more fuel efficient and powerful, not looking to completely break the bank, but I want to do what I can to upgrade while it's all apart. Already the k&n filter as some of yall may recall, I'm doing an aluminum t-stat housing (not really power upgrade but it's a safe bet), what else yall suggest?
What for exhaust? Just the headers? Think my super 10 and a resonator may do anything for it? Know there ain't much to do sadly, so doing what I can till I can get the mazda going. The k&n intake I've already got waiting to go on after the rebuildNot much in the way of cheap and easy power/economy gains. Intake and exhaust is the most gain for the $ spent.
the SOHC headers already flow pretty good stock. JBA I thnk or was it borla makes headers but i havent heard much about good power gains from those. the things id do for power would be MAF TB a higher flow muffler more like the brola pro xs or the flowmaster one thats practically the same i think. thikn tis flow effects or somethingWhat for exhaust? There's a performance throttle body? I found a possible spacer for it I was thinking of adding like I did for the rado, but thats all I sawthe SOHC headers already flow pretty good stock. 4.6 2v TB fits iirc its 65mm or something or maybe 70 i cant remember no more! aldive did it on his XThere's a performance throttle body? I found a possible spacer for it I was thinking of adding like I did for the rado, but thats all I saw
Interesting...keep that in mind..!4.6 2v TB fits iirc its 65mm or something or maybe 70 i cant remember no more! aldive did it on his X
I think I did a 70mm BBK that really made a difference.4.6 2v TB fits iirc its 65mm or something or maybe 70 i cant remember no more! aldive did it on his X
SOHC or OHV? are the TBs the same? Maybe the stock SOHC was 65 and the performance one was 70 or 75... cant remember no more!I think I did a 70mm BBK that really made a difference.
Think that and the spacer would be a nice combo? The spacer alone helped the rado some, not a lot, but noticeable low end.I think I did a 70mm BBK that really made a difference.
