DST - Did not fall back ?

When I set the GPS Time Synchronization ON, it advances the time 1 hour even though it shows Eastern Standard. When I manually set the clock back 1 hour to the Eastern Time zone I'm in, the GPS Time Sync turns off. Botton line is that I don't seem to be able to set the correct time with the GPS Time Sync in the ON position. It keeps setting the clock one hour ahead when turned ON.

Peter

This is why you have the DST on/off option. If it is not currently DST then DST should be set to off and if it is then on (that's where your one hour diff comes from)

The DST is OFF and the GPS Time Sync still sets the clock an hour ahead when in the ON position.

So you are saying if you turn DST on your clocks jumps to being 2 hours off?

I went out to try that this morning and found that the clock was now an hour behind. I turned the GPS Time Sync back ON and the time jumped ahead an hour and is now correct. DST is OFF.
Perhaps it takes a while to get in sync. Anyway, it is working the way it should now. I did turn DST to the ON setting just to check and it jumped ahead an hour. I'll leave it off and see what the new update will do.

Hi, Everyone!

You will have to go into your clock settings and turn Daylight Saving Time OFF. Here are the steps:

MENU > CLOCK > DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME > OFF

:)

Rebecca

Thanks Rebecca, however now I am confused. If you are where DST is observed, why would you turn it off. I understand that in places like Arizona you may not want to observe it because AZ does not do DST.

My simple mind say DST = OFF means that you do not want the system to change when DST changes, when DST = ON I would take it that DST changes are applied as and when it changes.

So what happens when DST = OFF ? Does the system change automatically ?

You misunderstand the option..

You turn the option off when it is not daylight savings time, and on when it is. The version of MFT with the option doesn't automatically adjust for DST, you are telling it if you are currently observing DST or not.

That being said, if you get the 3.5.1 update done you will no longer need to fiddle with that option, it will automatically adjust the clock for DST based on your time zone and the current scheduled DST dates.

Hi, Saffer!

13Sport is correct. During Daylight Saving Time (usually March - November) you have to turn it ON in your vehicle; once DST is over, you must turn it OFF. The system doesn't automatically change the time. Software v3.5.1 eliminates having to change DST.

Thanks for answering Saffer, 13Sport!

Thanks for the response. I never thought that is what that option is for.

You say next up is 3.5.1. I just recently (a month or two agao) installed Sync VersionGen2 - V3.2.2. How did we get from 3.2.2 to 3.5.1 or was there no updated between these ?

Updates won't always be consecutive, 3.5.1 is a fairly huge update with new maps and a new voice recognition system.

There were no public updates between 3.2.2 and 3.5.1

DST Still Not Working

I believe the recent two upgrades were also to ensure that the DST would automatically be set by the GPS according to your time zone. Well, it didn't work for me. Despite having all clock settings set to have it work, I still had to manually adjust the time ahead 1 hour.

Same here.. I had to manually change it today.

Same here. When I told it to set time by GPS it went back an hour off. So manual settings... I guess in a few weeks, it'll work aain.

Just to ask the programmers at Ford, why bother having a DTS on or off function if it does not automatically do it? Just saying. It just leads to more problems when people expect a function to work when it doesn't. I had to set mine forward as well.

That setting isn't there anymore.

I was eager to apply my new supposed understanding of the DST thing only to not find the DST on/off switch today ?

Where has it gone ? The clock settings has the manual hour and minute +/- options, AM/PM, Display Time or Date, Outside Temp and clock format but no DST on/off ? The scroll is disabled as there does not appear to be any other options for Clock settings.

I checked around in the settings, could not find it at all....?

Am I just missing it or has been removed ?

I did not see the DST switch (3.5.1). It did not change automatically this weekend. I had to do it manually and turn off the GPS synch. Am I missing something?

No you are not. It just doesn't work. There are also post to that effect in the IVT Forum.
Let's blame it all on Rebecca. ;)

As harlemn said, the ON/OFF functions were removed with V3.5.1 which was supposed to make the change automatic according to your time zone.

If you have to press it on or off, what is the difference if you can adjust the hour + or - ? You are basically doing the same thing, hitting a button once to correct the time. What a waste!
