Floor, cargo mats / liners

For those who are comtemplating between Ford's Cargo Mat and Weathertech, I would say go weathertech. The Ford one sucks compared to the weathertech i had in my previous years on another car though.

I've had both Husky and weathertech liners. Husky is a win for me. I was so particular about a passenger liner not fitting 100% (one side creased up a tiny bit). They resent me new ones twice and paid for return shipping. Best customer service and stands behind their lifetime warranty.

I'd been a WeatherTech fan for years but I went with the Ford OEM All Weather matts this time and I am very pleased with them. I had too many instances where my feet would slip getting in/out if my shoes were wet on bottom with WeatherTech. No issues at all with Ford All Weather matts

I definitely agree with this. I used to slip getting in as well.

Here is what I'm reusing in mine.

Peter,
Are you still using the old liner? I am about to take delivery of my 2020 ST but also have the OEM liner from my 2017 Sport. I was going to order a Smartliner but saw your post!

Any feedback after you have had some months using the old liner in the new car?

Thanks!
Richard.

The Smartliner is a great fit, as you saw from my earlier post it works great! +1 for Smartliner

Hey Richard. Yes, I am and will likely keep using it. I have the dogs back there when going to the vet and the groomer. Also, the most use the cargo area gets is during the warmer months when I load it up with yard waste bags and tree trimmings to take to the local recycling depot. I also have the liner that I used in the MKT that I slide over the folded 2nd row seats. I just don't see the need to spend more $$ to get another liner to add to my collection.:) I still have the Husky front and 2nd row liners from my 2017 Platinum as well and hoping to find someone local to take them off my hands.

Thank you! Collecting my car tomorrow so will give the 2017 liner a shot and see what i think.

Thank you! The Smartliner does look good so I will be tempted if the 2017 one doesn’t fit well/look as good :o)

Well, I followed someone else's lead here on the Forum and opted for the Lloyd Mats RubberTite product. I don't need a lip for spill protection but I did want some layer over the factory carpet. This lays out nice and flat and needed no trimming. I don't think I will be using 3rd row but this seems to just plop rearward if I bring the seats upright. It rolls up if I want to remove it but is a bit heavy. About $90 online. Good color selection. I wanted something loud...

can you post a pic of third row up and how the liner reacts?

I posted sometime
Back about preferring a solution that just goes with the flow rather than needing to remove/ fold away.

neocvera-here is the look after it has flopped forward. It does bind between the mat and the seat to a point where you cannot pull the mat out. I'm guessing this would crease the mat if left this way over time. I'm also not positive that this isn't causing resistance in the seat motors as the seats become upright and encounter the mat.

What I did try was to reach in and pull the top part of the mat forward on top of itself as the seats are coming up but before they get fully upright. This takes care of the binding problem and makes the mat removable.

Hope this helps.

A little confused here. You mentioned you wanted behind the 2nd row yet the first link you supplied is for behind the 3rd row. I'm guessing it is the full cargo area liner. On the Ford site it shows as $139.99.

Yes. you are right. The larger one behind the 2nd row. The ford link I posted did show both part numbers large and small. Mine came delivered with the small one. Probable make no difference between the ford rubber vs WeatherTech rubber!

I had weather tech's in my 15' escape, husky in my 19' ram and both would get slippery in the winter. So for the explorer I went oem as I knew they were the softer rubber. They look like they've been made to cup and hold more water than the older generations. So 3 rows of OEM and the rear, I haven't decided.

You should check out the Smartliner from Amazon for behind the 2nd row seats, much better than the OEM one I got from my dealer. I also have the OEM ones for the 1st and 2nd row, much better than the Weathertech ones I had in my '14. Here is link to the rear cargo mat I got for behind the 2nd row of seats.
