FROADER's '04 E-350

Quigely will only do new, untitled van conversions.. It goes from the factory to quigley to the dealer to you..

Many people do the conversion themselves and there is even a kit out for 92 to current e-250/350's. There are also a few companies that will do conversions on titled/used vans.

There's even a 4x4 van mailing list (I'm on it).. Its a yahoo message group.. called "4x4van" (at least thats what is in the message header when I get the messages

This guy is on the list (http://ujointclothing.com/), and I "think" he is the one that has the kit for the front axle on the '92+ e250/350

Mark, I joined that group and thanks for that link.

My second tank of gas is gone and I got 13.32 mpg this time. So, my average so far with the 2 tanks is 11.5 + 13.3 / 2 = 12.25mpg.

I only give a  because I've heard I would only get 10mpg no matter what. 12.25mpg still sucks my somewhat tan ass...

With a diesel you'd probaily geting like 20-25 mpg, 12.25 does defently suck but what did you expect from Bus with a V10?

...it's time for the swiss cheese box mod and a flowmaster 70 and...lol:D j/k...

That thing should get better then that! My dads motor home has the V10 and get about 10mpg. He just put the banks muffler on it so we'll what it will do now. ;)

dads 01 250 V10 gets 11.8 according to the overhead console consistantly
meaning I am not sure how accurate it is because I have only seen it change from 11.8 once and that was while doing 85 towing the boat for 225 miles, it went up to like 14.something

all stock 26K miles, 85 octane, 5280 feet +/-

I've talked to a bunch of people and they all said that their trucks with the v10 get 9-11mpg, so I'm ok with my over 12mpg for now. This pig weighs 9300lbs empty.

EDIT: A friend just told me his crew cab SD 250 is 6440bls. So I'm almost 3k more than that.

As stated in the post that you quoted, I was especting 10mpg...

Right, okay well i'm being dumb with my typing. Well are you gonna try to mod the engine and exhaust to try to get better? Or leave it alone?
Personaly i don't think i'd be able to leave it alone

if you replaced all that heavy glass with some plexy you can probably get 1.5 mpg more...

I'm going to leave it alone for a while and see how it does with towing. I'm sure I'll mod it eventually. I'd rather spend the money on the explorer and the things it needs.

whats the X needing??? maybe i can keep an eye out for parts for ya...;)

What all is in it to have such a high weight? That is normally the GVWR.

So since you're all wondering, the 3/4 and 1 ton van 8 lug pattern didn't change with the rest of Ford's 3/4 and 1 ton vehicles from 8x6.5" to 8x170mm. The change took place for the truck/excursions etc... in '99.

I was going to pick up some '02 Lariat 5 star wheels today that I found on CL (craigslist, not coors light) for $50, but after measuring and researching, they won't fit....lame. So stic if your dad's wheels are 99 and newer, they won't work for me.

blichy, you're right. That was the GVW at 9300lbs. The curb weight is actually 6160 lbs.

I emailed this guy and he said his kit is $550. Since this is the tow rig/DD I asked what the lowest I could go with the kit (for clearance issues) while running 33s. He recommended a lift no smaller than 2" which will still require minor x-member trimming.

With this kit you can grab a superduty front axle and springs and it all just bolts right up. Here is a pic of the kit.

Colin I like the rig. I used to work at a bar that used those to shuttle drunk people around. They are great road tripping rigs. We used to take the seats out and rearrange them like a limo along the sides with the back bench in place. Probably not the safest in the event of a crash with benches flying everywhere but I was young and dumb. Now I'm just a little older and would still probably do it.

But then yo'll have two different lug patterns! :p:

Yes my dad's are 99+ He bought them for his '80 250 before he found out they were different patterns:rolleyes:
