2000 Explorer
Hello:
I've got a 2000 Explorer 4x4 that the passenger side front caliper was locking up. We bought this used and drive it quite a bit so I bought new calipers, rotors, pads and hoses. Everything went on great except for the hoses.
The originals were twisted and the repair manual says they shouldn't be. And the passenger side, where the hose attaches to the caliper, was on what I would consider to be upside down - The horseshoe shaped cut out was facing up instead of fit over the caliper.
Anyway, I put the new hoses on (without the twist) and the cutouts down over the caliper. Now the hoses rub against the tires when in a full turn. Has anyone run into this or have a picture of how these things are supposed to be installed?
Thanks a bunch.

Resolution

Got the hoses to fit without rubbing. A friend of mine has a 2000 Ranger that burnt up but there was enough left to see how the hoses connected to the calipers. Sure enough:

1. the horseshoe shaped cutout that looks like it should face down over the caliper, was facing up on both sides.

2. what Smyth Automotive shows (and they've never steered me wrong before) as driver and passenger side hoses were reversed.

3. the Haynes manual says not to twist the hose, but there's a half twist in the line. Has to be to make the connections line up.

She stops now. And with all those new parts should be good to go for a while.

Glad to hear that you made it work:chug:
