Anyone else notice how much further forward the gas pedal is compared to the brake pedal. I have to move my seat closer in order to reach the gas pedal, then make a concious effort to pick my foot up and over to the brake. which also makes the whole foot area rather cramped. Im 5"10, so not a midget by most standards.

Aggggghhh, I hope this doesn't happen to me, I don't think my foot is trained like that either.:mad:

im plan on looking closer tomorrow to see if there is a way to adjust or modify it. ill post back

Hmm..didn't notice that on mine. I'll have to check today.

I'm 5'10", didn't notice any issues with the pedals.

I used to be 5'10 1/2. Now I'm older and shorter and bigger in the middle. Gravity sucks! :(

Just drove mine, no problems with pedal height. No different than any of my other vehicles.

Shouldn't be a problem. My Explorer feels fine with the pedals and I didn't notice a difference in height. No troubles yet.

I think 1995E needs to change his signature and the truck under his username :)

@OP
I know the Limited has adjustable pedals. I was thinking yours were out of whack but then I saw you have an XLT. My XLT should be in next week, will check it out then.

I am also 5'10 with a size 10 foot and am very upset with the pedal placement. The gas pedal seems to be in the normal place but the brake pedal is very low. I hit the arm that holds the pedal instead of hitting the pad part of the brake. The arm comes down the right side instead of the left of the pedal like almost all other brakes..... I have to think about it every time and it is very annoying and unsafe I feel...the pedals are not power and not adjustable .

Lol. I probably should. I can't ever let go of that Explorer ever though! Even if it is gone! Total loss or not, still my Explorer in my heart. I guess it's time to move on with the new 2011 Explorer and make memories with the new best SUV in the world.

Jeff I do also have an issue where i am constantly hitting the brake arm rather than the pedal itself.

Someone on this forum must have a recommended pedal mod, no? :-)

I am not moding my brake pedal that would be a job for Toyota to do....

Out of curiosity, for those of you who are having difficulties with the pedals, what vehicle did you drive before your Explorer, and was it a manual or automatic?

2009 explorer, 2007 explorer, 2004 grand Marquis. Never ever drove any car that had the brake pedal pad so low to the floor that the ball of my foot is higher than the pad of the brake pedal...also I hit the arm of the pedal before the pad......My wife doesn't complain about this pedal but she didn't complain about any of the other cars either she has a small foot, so a higher pedal would have been fine.......

It would be interesting to compare several Explorers to see if the pedals are in the same spot. I've had absolutely no problem with the pedals and my size 11 shoes.

My old 95 had the same throttle position actually. I noticed no change. I used to strike the brake pedal in my 95 on the side because the pedal was lower than the brake pedal. It's definitely a Ford Explorer thing.
