I am planning on purchasing Goodyear mt/r's in the near future and I was wondering if I could fit the 31x10.5's on my stock 15" rims. I have a 1995 Ford explorer 4.0 stock height and no modifications. If not I was planning on going with the 30x9.5's just to upgrade the size a little from the stockers (235x75x15). These are specs I pulled from tirerack so I can get everyones opinions.

I just got the Goodyear Wrangler Rt's 31x10.5 on my stock 15's and it rides nice no rub. Put on a 93 X sport.

Paid 145.00 total for all four tires mounted. Nice huh!! Guy had them for 4 months and went 35's. My gain!!!

I mean the cost of all 4 tires and the mounting was a total of $145.00

That's an awsome deal.....!!! Now having a 31 inch tire do you notice a difference in acceleration(sluggish?) or any other differences after installing the mt/r's?

I didn't notice anything until about a week after I installed the 31's. I now notice a power loss at take off but only there. I have gone a year without doing a tune on it though. I am going to be replacing the plugs, wires etc this week. I'll post again after I do that and see what the difference is. I can feel a lot of difference in my ride however. Don't know why but I am getting a lot less sway than I did with stock tires.

It used to feel like I was running wild down the highway being bounced right then left by the horrible roads up here. Now its a much smoother ride, could be because the tires are now wider than the grooves in the highway. It's kind of like driving on a rollercoaster, the gtrooves are kind of like rails and once your in them you go where they go.

That's good to hear.....that is also one of my main reasons to switch to a bigger tire for handling also, we get a lot of snow in chicago and I want to be on top of things. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of your new tires mounted on the truck would ya? I am just curious to see how much space there is between the front quarters, and the fenders for the front and rear. Also did you notice if your speedometer was off a bit? I know it probably won't be as big a difference as a rear gear swap. I also have want to add the Edelbroc Performer IAS shocks I hear they are pretty awsome, and it's almost time to replace those horrible stock ones they are getting really sloppy.
