Hi Ibn, Yes they are used (removed from the old explorers), $12 including shipping right? Fortunately mine was fine when I received it.

1.Soaked the letters in WD40 (which you can buy in your local hypermarket)overnight to make it easier to remove the used adhesive.
2. Used metal polish to polish them. (you can maybe use G27 which is also available in your local hypermarket)
3. For the adhesive I used "Bison" double adhesive or you could use the 3M which again (hahaha) available in your local hypermarket.

1. Painted the letters in black to make it match my grill,(also now showing the Ford logo)
2. Installed black side vents with matching carbon fiber
3. Installed black vinyl on "face side" of the door handles.

^ That's hilarious! The more they make the more the price will come down. There are plenty of dealers who will gladly order a part like that for you at their cost since you purchased the vehicle through them. Id figure by springtime we can group buy these for probably $60.00+ . Plus, after your first spring detailing you can attached undamaged letters

Is the oem lettering only available in black?

The 2013 Sport "EXPLORER" letters are all black regardless of exterior color. You can do like others and get the earlier separate letters which were chromed plastic. Or just get the new ones and paint them

If it is possible can you please let me know from where you purchase the side steps (I really like the ones you have). I am also in Dubai.. I have 2013 LTD Brown Kodiak. Also those side vents looks amazing.

I love the front hood letters but I guess this is too much work for a nerd like me.....

1. I purchaed the running boards online from DEEZEE and had it shipped here and installed it myself (very easy task. took me just less than an hour to install both and whats best is that no drilling required) Costed me around AED 3000 including the shipping

2. the side vents? I got it from carrefour! hahaha! AED 25,

Note: I did try to find the running boards in Dubai and Sharjah, from a lot os auto accesories shop and they dont have anything for our 2012 up EX! the good thing here is that Im the only guy in UAE who has a running board! hahaha! cheers!

Hey Raza, Just a heads up!

You actually need to order 2 parts

1. DZ16202 which is the board itself with chrome trim
2. DZ16221 which is the bracket kit for 2012 up explorer

Look for Salih Hamid who works there as the exports sales manager. He was the guy who assisted me through out the process and was very very helpful with any questions I asked. I highly recommend him.

When the time comes and I see a brown Kojiak Ex with running boards here. I will know its you! hahaha!

Mine are silver letters on black on my sport.

I'm guessing Ford made the price that high are to discourage people like us from buying them and confusing people on what Explorers are Sport, and which are not.

The least expensive place so far is Levitron Ford, I believe it is called. It was listed elsewhere on the forum where there is a discussion of the lettering and the black sport grille guard.

There price, if memory services me right as I just got mine in, was $74.95 plus about $14.00 in shipping and handling. They are by far the cheapest price for the OEM Ford lettering!!

Just got my black "Explorer" hood letters from fordparts.com. Ordered it last Dec. 3rd and it was for only $98.43+ tax. Looks like Ford has upped the price now to $115.80 in just a week.
