1999
150,247
Original engine and transmission, untouched (except for fluid changes).

Undercarriage (driveline) completely new/rebuilt (abs, brakes, differentials, hubs, seals, shocks, transfer case etc.).

94' XLT. 243,000 miles. Original engine, never rebuilt runs like a top! junkyard tranny at 210,000 needs to be rebuilt soon. Other than that, it's just been routine maintenance! (ok, maybe a few unnecessary mods here and there, but who's counting!?)

1998 Eddie Bauer 2wd, SOHC 4.0, 175,000 miles. Still runs strong as ever. Trans rebuilt at 135,000, has a delay when shifting into reverse if parked more than 4 hours. Rest of the truck is solid, kept very clean, no rust.

The usual maintenance items have always been ball joints, rod ends, control arms, shocks, timing chain tensioner, intake gaskets, and now the hard to find lower intake coolant leak.

Just a quick note guys, a ton of you have posted your mileage but did NOT include the engine model- I'm kind of thinking that was the intent of the entire post, to get an idea how long each engine is capable of lasting by giving examples.

I've got a 96 with about 160K on the clock

hasn't really needed anything beside regular maintenance, ball joints, u joints, and i have replaced the slave cylinder 3 times, second time i had to replave the clutch because it was soaked in brake fluid.

Other than that it has been great to me.

1999 XLT

172,000 Miles. Still runnin beautifully! :D

I've noticed quite a few of you have replaced your ball joints, u joints. I've had a nasty creaking noise when I go over speed bumps coming from the front suspension for a while now. I took an auto class and my prof thought the noise was a bushing in the ball joint/upper control arm I believe? Is this noise why you guys replaced these parts?

1995xlt 160k original engine...2nd tranny replaced at 116k brand new from ford by owner b4 me...all i did was replace transfer case it was bad

1994 XLT 4.0 - 147,000

Rebuilt tranny (used) that had 80,000 on it.
Engine was original. Other than regular maintence, nothing major on the repair list besides the tranny. Had to redo some seals as well on trans and engine - bottom level. Sold her and some dumbass wrecked it - went off the road and smashed into a tree.... I cried. Seriously.

1993 Explorer 185,000 miles. bone stock engine and transmission.

1999 Explorer 110,000 miles. bone stock and almost to good to be true. unbeliveably awesome vehicle. sharp lookin 2!

Bought our 2003 XLT Sport 4x4 SOHC 4.0L V-6 just over a year ago. Looks like nothing had been done to it by the prior (original) owner.
Currently 85,000 miles on it and since 68,000 I'd say 90% of it has been long highway trips of 1000 miles each way.
Mileage - 17MPG City / 21MPG Highway - According to my receipts and mileage for the last year.
  • New Tires. Replace the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S 255/70R16 with new Michelin LTX M/S 255/70R16. Much better tire in my opinion.
  • New Brakes. Replaced the original brake pads and rotors all around.
  • Fixed A/C. Tested, no leaks. Refilled from a kit and works perfect now.
  • New Console. Replaced the crappy short center console (the one with the removable tote bag ) with a full length 'Highland' console I think it was called.
  • New Bug Deflector. Added a bug deflector to the front.
  • Upgraded Rear Leafs. Beefed up the rear leafs with an additional top full leaf and lower 3/4 leaf.

Regular maintenance as always.

Ordered heated seats for my winter travels up into Canada and should have those installed next week.

1991 Sploder, original engine and tranny 5 speed, truck is in the desert at least 3 days out of the week, never had a problem, 286,000 miles.

1997 Eddie Bauer 5.0L AWD. Has 210,000 and runs AWESOME!! Its a daily driver and nothing leaks. No rebuids on tranny or motor. Nothing done to it at all. Only things ive had to do is replace front driveshaft and a front wheel bearing. And when i drive it i beat the SNOT outta it. Due to my right foot being really heavy, I only have 2 speeds. Thats floor it and slam on the brakes! but now that winters here i gotta ease up on it sadly :( im all depressed now. hahaha.

96 ex

1996 XLT 150,000 miles origional engine and tranny :D

1999 XLT 136...K All original, engine and tranny, only thing replaced is rear shackles.

2000 XLT, V8 AWD. 94k with everything original. Just a couple mods and I'm working out a plan for 100k maintenance. I hope to keep it around for a little while. With petrol at this level, why not?

1996 206,000 miles

She was running great until it spring a leak on the lower intake gasket cuz the retard who worked on it before I bought her (got it at 154,000) installed the gasket folded over.

2000 XLT 4x4
4.0 SOHC
217,x..

Hmm, let's see...
low mileage motor from an '01 sport at 110,x..
Trans rebuilt twice, 140,x.. / 216,x..
a couple of new alternators
and a fuel pump

Everything else has been routine maintenance, or just little things that I have broke. Not too bad for a truck that's gone places, and does things that the designer's never intended.
