Well Tom Davis gets the cookie award.
I went to the pick and pull, got a couple of MAF sensors, a new cruise control device ( the cable was busted on this one) a cluster surround with vents and switches, ashtray, and a new air intake tube, and, even a efi engine cover for 15 bux!
I noticed someone had pulled a gas tank so I went ahead and stole a sending unit off the fuel pump assembly.
I had to take the sender apart to clean it but after doing so it rises in resistance smoothly. I heated the ball and filled the holes with solder. Yeah, it's ghetto but if it works to fix my permanently empty tank, who's the hero?
Anyway, after cleaning a stock maf and putting in the new tube with it I cleared the codes, warmed the truck and as soon as I turned left to head up the road the check engine light came on.

so, I broke down and stuck a new 02 sensor in the driver side downpipe ( this truck has one on each bank) and bingo.
I Immediately noticed the old sensor had something sticking out of one of the slits. I did remove this debris but now it makes me wonder if this "old sensor" is still good because it looks pretty new, and, came out very easily.
I left the new one in though.
After 5 miles of driving around town no check engine light--woo hoo!!
I also re filled my gas tank. 68 miles and it took 6 gallons so I hope this new 02 sensor will help fix the gas mileage also.
I am going to put some miles on it like this, check the mileage and then I may put the Granatelli MAF back on there and see how well it does. The opening is so much bigger--
Sheri and I will take this for a drive tonight out to the country just to be sure but I think the check engine light is now fixed. This is a big "trust" thing for me, as, well, to be honest I just do not trust this truck enough yet to get too far from home in it. Time will tell.
Oh, I re titled this thread also. It is about time
