Jon And Sheri's Vitamin D Wagon

Well Tom Davis gets the cookie award.

I went to the pick and pull, got a couple of MAF sensors, a new cruise control device ( the cable was busted on this one) a cluster surround with vents and switches, ashtray, and a new air intake tube, and, even a efi engine cover for 15 bux!
I noticed someone had pulled a gas tank so I went ahead and stole a sending unit off the fuel pump assembly.

I had to take the sender apart to clean it but after doing so it rises in resistance smoothly. I heated the ball and filled the holes with solder. Yeah, it's ghetto but if it works to fix my permanently empty tank, who's the hero?

Anyway, after cleaning a stock maf and putting in the new tube with it I cleared the codes, warmed the truck and as soon as I turned left to head up the road the check engine light came on.
176- 2 times
Lean left side

so, I broke down and stuck a new 02 sensor in the driver side downpipe ( this truck has one on each bank) and bingo.
I Immediately noticed the old sensor had something sticking out of one of the slits. I did remove this debris but now it makes me wonder if this "old sensor" is still good because it looks pretty new, and, came out very easily.

I left the new one in though.

After 5 miles of driving around town no check engine light--woo hoo!!

I also re filled my gas tank. 68 miles and it took 6 gallons so I hope this new 02 sensor will help fix the gas mileage also.

I am going to put some miles on it like this, check the mileage and then I may put the Granatelli MAF back on there and see how well it does. The opening is so much bigger--

Sheri and I will take this for a drive tonight out to the country just to be sure but I think the check engine light is now fixed. This is a big "trust" thing for me, as, well, to be honest I just do not trust this truck enough yet to get too far from home in it. Time will tell.

Oh, I re titled this thread also. It is about time

lol, i bet sheri will be thrilled by the choice of titles,,

must be something about kansas an floats in the tanks, i just had to fix the one in the 92 ranger too, now it works and so does the speedo. that's a load off my mine. the fix it crew is knocking the list down slowly now

Yep Steve--we are scratching them off huh.

Well, Sheri and I drove to Iola, hit Sonic for some Slushy things and then Walmart. We cruised around town, and headed back home without one single check engine light.
It also seems to run a lot better. I thought it was running pretty well to be honest, as it would spin the 35's from a dead stop. Now it doesn't seem to have as much right off the line, however, it gets to 60 MPH quite a bit quicker and smoother. Maybe this is where the Granatelli Maf was showing it's stuff, down on the bottom end?

oh man I wonder if that is my old Granatelli MAS... I dont remember who I sold it too it may very well have been...

Ha ha, now that would be funny. Seems the VD term fits for my ***** truck eh?

Am I the only one on this forum who hasn't had --um, "fun" in it?

Geez, section said he lost his virginity in it for crying out side---

So anyway
I need to extend the radius arms, so I can move the radius arm brackets back out of the way of my slider brackets. Then I can install the sliders. Then we can get into it easier. It is pretty difficult and actually quite painful now----

what are your thoughts on these?

http://stonecrushersteering.com/OTHER_PRODUCTS.html

and if I extend the arms, then the arm brackets will move further inboard. right now thay are about even with the frame. 10" added will surely put the radius arm brackets inboard of the frame rails ---

Or am I missing something? is there an angle in the extensions?

There is no angle on the extensions. They follow the axis of the stud. lateral position of the RA end in relation to the frame rail is for convenience of fabrication, angle is not critical.

Today I cut an access panel above the fuel pump and went bout fixing the fuel gauge.
It took 3 hours and 2 trips to the parts store for disconnect tools to get the supply line off the pump assembly. I wanted to break that stupid tube so bad--grrrrr

I asked for a new float on one of the trips, and by golly they had a Ford float in stock so I went ahead and picked it up.
Once I did finally get the fuel pump and sender out I found a heavy float full of gas. So, I snapped in the new float, put it all back together and we now have a working fuel gauge.

Another fixit checked off.

That's a good deal. That's the assembly I have for my 98 and 347 now, I'll replace the two small steel lines later for two pumps and AN fittings. I like the OEM assembly design.

Clearanced the rocker seams, removed the plastic rocker covers and "toach foamed" the holes in preparation for herculiner

Nice rust free rockers eh?

Thats Great Stuff :) hehe

Thats Great Stuff :) hehe

Yes it is actually--lol the green can stuff isn't all that good

I also herculined the front grill and headlight surrounds. it didn't turn out all that well as I sprayed it and it ran. I will get another grill set and try again but for now it looks better for sure. I will get pictures when the rockers dry.

dang I need to do that to my 96 so bad, the running boards are fugly!! but not as fugly as the rusting frame rails underneath!

looks good man!! geat idea with the expand o foam, I like the look of the Duplicolor spray on bedliner myself, but its not as durable as hurc, duplicolors new paint "especially for wheels" is getting sprayed on everything around here lately, it has a real nice finish and slight texture to it........

Jon, is that the flexible Great Stuff, or the hard version?

That stuff holds on to water and causes major rust I'm told..

I used that stuff to try to fill a hole in the firewall. Since the firewall flexes some it cut around the edges and lets the water in. If your body flexes at all there its not going to seal on its own. I"m not sure if it'll seal once herc'd.
